Clippers better be decent in 2028 and 2029 or this is going to look ugly My guess is 2029 never conveys. Sixers just as likely or even more likely to be bad by then and at least we have top 3 protection on it. 2028 is a crap shoot. If we sign all three of Harden, Kawhi and PG through that year, then even if we stink we're probably so far over the cap that we trigger the second apron and have a bottom pick anyway. Yeah good point re 2028. The second apron rule makes things interesting. I can't picture us signing these guys until age 39.

The second apron idea in the CBA looks good on paper for the league but in practice it's not doing what they intended. If a team can trade that pick and then not care about the penalty for the second apron on the draft, then they're defeating the purpose of that rule. They probably should have written it so if the pick is conveying to another team then it's not bottom of the draft but then teams could circumvent that by switching picks with each other.

Full deal: Clippers send: RoCo, Batum, Morris, KJ Martin, 2028 unprotected pick, 2027 unprotected pick swap, 2029 protected pick swap, 2024 and a 2029 second-round picks. Clippers receive: Harden, PJ Tucker, and Filip Petrusev. How can they do both 2028 and 2029? Because that would be consecutive years with first rounders. But it violates the Ted Stepien rule.

Or they sign and trade for some star, and are at least still a playoffs team. Trae Young, or one of Indiana's bigs that aren't getting playing time, etc. Or maybe Embiid leaves, and they replace him with other people. Who knows either way. Things are rarely linear. Maybe they find the next Markkanen, a player who needed to get healthy, and be in a different environment than the always weird Bulls. Maybe Jaden Ivey won't develop until he goes to a new team, and that team is Philadelphia.

Either they'll keep their own pick, or they'll swap with Philadelphia, whatever Philadelphia decides.

My guess is "minimum considerations" is a heavily protected 2nd round pick. They needed the roster spot opened and didn't want the luxury tax hit from releasing him.

What are the over/unders on how many pounds overweight he is,, having not practiced w/ a team in over two weeks? Judging from the video of him coming into the locker room, I'd take the overs at 20 pounds.

Judging from the video of him coming into the locker room, I'd take the overs at 20 pounds. Even though the season has already started, it's not too late for one of those Training Camp Stories. I think we'll be hearing about these three: 7) Player D is a few pounds heavier than we'd like him to be, but he'll be ready when the season starts. 9) Player F is in game shape but just needs to get his timing back. 10) The new players on the team have to learn the system, so they can get their timing.

It's only $120 for the season and it's looking exciting so far for the Clips. Talking self into it. clipsentuboca does not want to pay a subscription to Crappervision to watch Larden.

Powell is redundant with Harden, hard to see how he fits in now with Westbrook, Harden, PG, Kawhi, Mann, Bones… Powell and Tucker have a combined salary of $29 Mil. That should buy us a good PF or two, no? Is there another trade in the works? Jeremi Grant? Myles Turner?

I'm not opposed to keeping him, but also not sure who else we can trade to upgrade the PF spot. Seems like it comes down to him, Westbrook or Bones. Westbrook seems to have ascended into a team leader though so I really can't see him being traded. Bones is a wild card. If he keeps playing like this, he'll have decent value around the league but we probably want to keep some youth on the team. So unless we can possibly get a decent PF for some 2nds, Norm prob is the one to be traded out.

Not encouraged by Kawhi's reaction that the Clips now have to learn to 'sacrifice'. Right. Because it's all about keeping the fat man happy. I hope I'm wrong thinking this will implode, but at least when it does, it should be very amusing.

I did notice that none of the players exactly jumped up screaming "The Ring! We just got us a ring!" I suppose in another month we'll know if there's a chance of avoiding what I see for the near future: a withdrawn KL, PG trying to put a good face on things, a disgruntled Russ, and Fat-man working on his dance moves.
