Well, that was us last season. Still might be us in the first round, if Kawhi isn't healthy.

Of all the predictions I am making, I am most confident of the prediction that he WILL indeed play. Now, will he play all the way through without getting injured, I think the odds on that are about the same as any other player's odds. That is, anybody can get injured in the playoffs, and very often do.
The 8th seed hasn't even been determined in either conference and already three teams will be going into the playoffs without their best player. I was predicting New Orleans and Miami to both be in the 8th slot and now they are both likely out, and I was predicting Milwaukee to go to the East conference finals, and now they're probably not going to get past the first round. Brutal. corkscrew I asked you a few pages ago, but can you post your spreadsheet template so I can play your pre play-in predictions (as in, what I would have picked)? Otherwise I think someone else posted a decent text template I can copy/paste and fill in. You posted a blank spreadsheet template last year for us. I'm still going to make round by round predictions, especially since I predict the order of every series, but for the sake of your game, have my pre play-in predictions too. Also what do you think of the fingers crossed emoticons I added? I posted about it here: clippertalk.proboards.com/post/63301

You know I gotta say, these playoffs, and the play-in, have been pretty entertaining so far. I usually loose interest once the Clippers are out. Maybe that will happen again this season. Or maybe they will never go out this season, which is what I hope for but do not expect. I always watch everything. But, I am glad all four play-in games were good. The worst one was probably Bulls - Hawks, but it was close through 3 quarters, and Murray and DeRozan played well. So it was a quality game with stars playing well, so that's ok.

Denver is -415 over the Lakers, seems a tad high. It's the biggest favorite currently until Boston probably being 9-1 over whoever they face. Pretty surprised the Suns are favored over the Wolves. I think they've played them well and match up decently, but there's no doubt who's been the better team.

Then again, there are definitely more Lakers betters in general than Denver-area betters, and as you say those odds are pretty high.

If the Lakers were playing OKC they would probably be favored even though OKC is the 1 seed. I think the wolves are better than OKC because they have some real playoff veterans mixed with young talent, and also size advantages.

Big injuries swinging things already and maybe another warning for fans who might want their teams to tank into the play in. Pelicans and Heat are screwed now. Celtics road gets easier and easier, they're all but a lock for the finals. It might be up there with the biggest cakewalk in history.I dunno but the 1st ring for the GS Warriors could be a candidate....

My first reaction is that if I was a Celtics fan, I am not sure I want my team to have a cakewalk until they get to the finals because they won't be battle tested. But, I am not sure I want my team to go through the blood bath that the West will be before the finals either, as whoever comes out may be more tired and beaten down at that point.

I think Boston's will be a cakewalk to the Finals, where they're likely to get a tough test at that point. Unless like Golden State, whoever they face from the West suffers key injuries in game 1 of the Finals too.

Clippers are 2 point dogs right now. Seems like intel might be thinking Kawhi is not going to play this one.

Thanks!
These are the picks I would have made at the start of the play-in:
A few explanations:
* Clipper vs. Mavs: Both teams have questionmarks. Doncic has been shooting poorly for a while. March and April are his worst shooting months.
Think Westbrook's rebounding would have helped.
* Ultimately, I believed in Minnesota's size and defense.
* I don't trust neither Philadelphia nor Milwaukee, but I had to pick someone. Think Tyreke Maxey would have been the difference.
* For the ECF, I think Porzingis is going to make a big difference, when compared to Boston's past.
* New York loses in the first round because they're small. In general, I picked another gritty team (Orlando in another series), but for New York, I could not do the same.
* My Pelicans pick in the play-in was based on CJ and Zion.
* I would have loved to see Miami beat Boston again, but again, think Porzingis adds a different wrinkle.

Memphis was killing the Warriors until Mike Conley got hurt, and was very limited rest of the series.
They faced the Pelicans with Jrue Holiday missing a game.
Cavs were hurt.
No, you can't do anything about it if the opponents are injured, but you shouldn't be facing an injured team every round.
For the Pelicans, my thinking is that if the Pelicans win one game, then Golden State is pushed, and they need to respond. Sort of like last year's Miami-Boston series. When down in a series, try to win one game. Then the next. Etc.
