I think it’s time to start talking Zu up. If he continues like this he’s got to be in the conversation. James has been so good for him and Zu is really responding.

He's on a good run lately but his best seasons were 2019-21 I disagree. His offensive game is far more polished now than ever before. His entire game has improved. He’s not fumbling the ball or turning it over, playing stronger, and even passing the ball much better.

This is his best turnover year. His best assist year was 2018. His best offensive efficiency year was 20-21. His best rebounding year was 19-20.
He sure looks good lately though.

Austin Reaves and or Halliburton have this locked up. Haliburton sure. But Reaves? He's almost the same player as last year, just more minutes. His Player Efficiency Rating is within less than 1 point of last year and his defense is about the same as last year. The only thing that changed about Reaves is his minutes played/starts, and the propaganda machine around him promoting him ceaselessly so they can maybe use him in a key trade. Haliburton however made a big jump. The actual Most Improved Player sort of jump you expect from that award. On the topic of Zubac, he also made a big jump this year relative to last year. However, he used to be at this level in 2019-2020. So not really "most improved" but more like "returned to proper usage."

Haliburton was awesome last year too, but he's def elevated so not a bad choice. I had Scottie Barnes so far. Went from a bad shooter to a real weapon this year. Reminiscent of Kawhi back in SA. Sengun and Maxey in consideration too.
As for Zu, after his slowish start (Lue said he was playing with a bit of an injured back) he's really been playing great in his role. Harden makes things so much easier for him. It was never super smooth with him and Russ since the man guarding Russ could play off him more, which makes it more crowded in there for Zu who isn't a super athlete that can just go up and catch lobs.

That makes a lot more sense. And Reaves is basically not on the list given he's an "also ran" one. The race seems to right now be: Maxey, Sengun, Barnes, White, Haliburton.

Crazy that I nailed the top 3, I hadn't seen the odds. Not that it's too hard to predict. I forgot about Coby White, I never expected this from him. Barnes fits the award though. Good rookie season then stalled out 2nd year where people were wondering why he didn't progress. Then this season he's a potential all star now.

Harden and Zu's pick and roll game has been very important in opening up the court for everyone else. Teams have to honor Zu in that situation or it's going to be an easy 2. It's not something that shows up in a stat sheet, but developing that part of his game with the right pg has been a huge help to the team. Guys are more open even on possessions he doesn't touch the ball. From the eye test, he's been a better anchor for the team defensively this season as well, he moves his feet better and doesn't get caught flat footed as often.

I don't think Haliburton has as much of a jump, I think he went from great to greater.
White, Maxey, Sengun would be my picks. In no particular order as of now. Actually Maxey is below the others. I don't think he improved as much, rather than gotten more playing time.
The other two have improved.

Not Barnes? They list him at 6'7, but honestly he looks huge to me. Like Paul George's size. With his skill set, he's gonna be dominant. Kind of agree on Maxey looking at the numbers. Just looks like more usage from when he broke out last season.

However, he was better as a rookie than he was last year. He's improved when compared to either season, but less improvement when compared to his rookie year, than when compared to last year.
The good thing about Barnes is he can rebound. Someone like Ingram is a poor rebounder. Barnes gets after it.
Maybe that's the hugeness you're talking about.
With the way he plays, I would not be surprised if he made a jump in FTAs one of these years.
Yes, add Barnes to my list.
Also, Coach Rajakovic's rant was great.
Coach Of The Year.
