6-1 was better than I imagined. The first game home from a long trip can be a letdown, so let's hope we take care of the Pelicans.

A few weeks ago I would have said with more conviction that the Pelicans win. The Pelicans have not seemed to be playing as well since then. So I have less conviction now. But to me, the Pelicans seem like a team capable of going 4 - 0 against the Clippers in the regular season, even though the Clippers have one win in two games so far. I just mean in a given year, with their roster. Pelicans have a 4 game road trip, starting with the Clippers. If they're at their best, I could see a 4-0 trip. But I don't think they're at their best.

NBA schedule makers love to screw with us. It's not that different with Sacramento. They started a 7 game road trip one day before the Clippers. Both finished their last game yesterday. Both play tomorrow. In terms of the time between the last road game, and first home game, it's the same for both teams.

Portland had a 7 game road trip in January. 7 games in 12 days. 1 day off between last road game, and first home game.
Phoenix had a 7 game road trip that finished on Sunday, in 12 days. 1 day off, then a game today.

Look, as always, the argument isn't that you can find someone else with as bad or almost as bad a schedule. It's that THE TEAM PLAYING IN OUR SAME ARENA NEVER HAS A SCHEDULE ANYTHING NEARLY AS BAD AS OURS. Man, I don't know how that message hasn't gotten across after all these years. It's not random. If it were random, you'd see Lakers with a worse schedule than Clippers roughly half the time. It's so "this is a fucking cold hard fact" that it's literally a primary reason we're spending so much building our own arena.

I never said it was random. I don't think all qualms will be solved with a move to the new arena. I expect there to be still some portions of the schedule, like there have been, before, afterwards.
There's still going to be 7 game road trips some years. Maybe 8 some years, maybe 6 other years.
Schedule will still probably be worse than that other team's, most years.

A large portion of bad schedules is other things scheduled in your same arena. Not just sports, concerts, whatever. Not having those does really open up your scheduling opportunities more.

I think the Intuit Dome is going to have those concerts, Disney on Ice; etc. stuff scheduled too. In the evening.
I also think that that other team is probably still going to end up with a better schedule than the Clippers, most of the time. Just a prediction.
There's a lot to look forward to though, with the new arena.
One more unpredictable factor is how much ABC likes the Clippers. If they like them, then they'll get those Sunday 12:30 PM PST starts, after the football season is over.
So I think there's still two ways for the Clippers to still have a few weekend early games a year, one because something else is scheduled that evening (or they wanted to leave it open for something), and two because ABC thinks the Clippers are the most appealing.
The schedule will be better, but for people that don't like afternoon games, those will probably still come up. And as I said, I think that other team will still end up with a better schedule.

Wanted to say 5 - 2, but I'll go 6 - 1. I think you win the prediction race! 6-1! I'm glad we all had high expectations for the Clippers. I think the "worst" one is 5-2, and even that is good.
And of course, the Clippers delivered on our lofty goals.
That's what great teams do.
