Doc is definitely not coach of the year.... if we kept Bradley we would be out of the playoff race. We should be talking about GM of the year for all those amazing trades we pulled off We SHOULD be out of the playoff race frankly given the players we have left, and I think it's pretty amazing we are still in the playoff race given what we're working with. Only team in the playoff race starting two rookies. One of the youngest teams in the playoff race. Roleplayers who have literally only had 3 practices with the team. Gallinari as our best starter. I mean come on, give up SOMETHING for the fact that this team doesn't know the word quit! I expected them to stay in the playoffs race after the trade. My reasons were: * Zubac, Temple and Chandler are additions. * They still have Gallinari, Harrell, and Williams. A good Big 3. * Losing Bradley helps. # 1 hasn't played out that way. The remaining have. I thought Temple would play the amount he played in Memphis and Sacramento. The counter-arguments would have been losing Teodosic and Gortat. And that Zubac could have had trouble adjusting. I thought the positives were greater, but others did not. They could have been right too, and it wouldn't have been that surprising. To me, the Clippers kept their better player (Gallinari over Harris). And still have their best player (Harrell). You're not going to like this, but I'm not the only one that says Harrell is their best player. My friend went to a Clippers @ Portland game, and came away saying that Harrell was the best player on the team. This same person coincidentally enough also went to the Clippers @ Portland game last year, and Marjanovic was his point of fascination then. Charles Barkley might have said that Harris was the Clippers best player, but I disagreed with that.

I would admit that Doc has been superb as a coach this year and should win coach of the year. Doc did have some head scratchers, though. I felt he did a poor job coaching in the second game in Denver. Outside of that, Doc has been incredible. Obviously the FO should get a lot of credit as well. To put together a bunch of guys in less than 2 years the way they did and they just so happen to be hard working team players and have amazing chemistry is truely impressive. These guys love being Clippers. They love being the underdogs. They love watching the Lakers get plastered all over the media for all the wrong reasons. These are all the reasons and then some why most of not all of us are Clippers fans. Lob City was fun but did not represent what it’s meant to be a Clipper. CP and Blake were Laker players wearing the wrong uniforms.Observation of the week.

Fact: The Lakers have lost more games than any team in the NBA since 2013
Fact: The Clippers have been better than the Lakers since the end of the 2010-11 season.

Fact: The Lakers gave us one of their best players (Zubac) for nothing.

You know how many teams are looking forward to oferring Walton a head coach job? Zero. From the press conference: +++++++++++++++++++++++++ www.nba.com/kings/blog/live-luke-walton-introductory-press-conferenceQuestion (paraphrased): Why did you go after Luke Walton so quickly? Vlade Divac: I didn't want to waste time because I was confident Luke was the guy. I've been following him for years. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I do think they rushed into the decision. Divac did the same thing with Joerger 3 years ago. Promised an extensive coaching search, and then hired Joerger right after he became available. I think they should have interviewed some of those rumored candidates, like Ettore Messina, Monty Williams, Luke Walton, 1 or 2 more candidates. If after asking questions about the system, and such, that Luke Walton was the best guy, then I'd feel more comfortable in this decision. Right now, this seems more about wanting to reduce tension in the front office, and having an agreeable person, then having made the decision after a comprehensive search.

Walton was the first coach hired in the offseason.

And it was a bad decision. He's not good. But then, it's the Kings.

And it was a bad decision. He's not good. But then, it's the Kings. I agree in that it was bad to hire him without considering other choices, and doing a better interview search.
But hearing Vlade talk about it, he says he didn't want to waste time because he knew Walton was the guy.
Vivek has had a desire to be like the Warriors ever since he took over for the ownership. He's always praising their players and front office personnel.
He was a part owner of the Warriors, before the Kings opportunity came up.
He talks about how Buddy Hield is Steph Curry.
(Which Hield doesn't like)
Given that Walton has Warriors ties, I'm not surprised that that was probably a major factor in their decision.
