I'll agree that his percentages should be what you said they should be.
I don't think it's as simple as saying he shouldn't be taking X amount of shots, or he should be redistributing them.
You can point to a lot of PGs on a lot of teams and say the same thing. But it doesn't happen that way for various reasons.
If Keyonte George could give up some of his shots to Lauri Markkanen and Walker Kessler, the Jazz would be a little better. But it's not going to happen. Those shots won't get redistributed.
I guess I'll say this. Harden should be shooting better, and he will. But he'll still take those 5 shots too.
Agree that it doesn't happen that way. With Utah I think they know that Keyonte George should not be shooting that much and if they actually wanted to win, those shots would go to Markkanen and Kessler. But they want to try to develop him and it helps them lose, this is a clear tanking team right from the start. For Harden, he is taking way more shots than last year which is a big reason his efficiency is this low. Part of the problem right now is Mann and Jones can't create anything and won't really shoot unless they're wide open. Harden himself can't create enough high quality shots for himself for the amount he's taking. He also takes a lot of the late shot clock stuff for us so I don't completely hold his %'s against him. Houston Harden would be averaging 35 points a game on this team in his sleep. He got to 24 tonight and it took every bit of craft and effort to get there. I like Harden when he's making plays. Sometimes he isos too much.
I said something similar about the Clippers version of Baron Davis. I liked the Hornets version of Baron Davis a lot more, and started to dislike the Warriors version, before he came to the Clippers.
Although I then liked Davis a little more just before he was traded, as I thought he and Griffin were developing some chemistry.

But they want to try to develop him and it helps them lose, this is a clear tanking team right from the start. You also want players to develop good habits though. You want them to "play the right way". You can still lose games, but have guys play the right way.
The Spurs did it with DeJounte Murray and Derrick White, players who were reasonably efficient for them when they were on the Spurs.
I think Keyonte doesn't know when NOT to shoot, and there doesn't seem to be anyone to teach him. More importantly, he might average less than 0.5 steals per game, which is pathetic for a PG.
Even if the Jazz suddenly got more talent, at this point I don't think Keyonte would play much differently. He'd probably still shoot sub 40%, not get to the foul line, and not defend.
There were some signs last year that he was a better playmaker. But if he was, he'd be averaging more assists. Tyus Jones on the Wizards should have been a better role model for him.
Yeah I tend to agree that it probably is better for them to go the way the Spurs did with Murray and White. The only times I can see it going the other way is if you think you have a real superstar, but Keyonte isn't that. He looks more like a Deangelo Russell than a guy who can be a number 1 option. The Nets are doing something similar with Cam Thomas and he might actually be showing that he can be a leading scorer type. For Utah, I thought Sexton showed improvement and it's obvious they would win more games with him playing over George. I guess maybe they'd just rather tank over all else even at the expense of Keyonte developing the right way.
