This game needs to start at the defensive end.
Need to find some answer.

If Warriors lose this game -- HUGE IF -- they will be in deep trouble. Clippers are already in their heads big time, this would chill their spine and may affect their cohesion going forward. On a psychological level, this may turn out to be the most important game of the series. I like how you provide complete analogies.
You once said "The Clippers got the elevator, the Pelicans got the shaft".
Your bolded portion of the post is another complete analogy.

Wow, Zubac was a beast in the end... Too bad that was after the game was over. We need more of that when it counts to have a chance.

Well, that escalated quickly. Hopefully LA nightlife fucks with the Warriors friday/saturday night and they come out hung over for early game on Sunday.

That was rough. 1) Way too many Warriors fans in audience. 2) Refs totally took us out of our game. Doc mentioned it after the game that we were bringing the ball in on most plays in the first half, and the team doesn't function well that way. 3) We could not hit shots to save our lives, not even open shots. Gallinari sucked. Shamet sucked. 4) The one single bright spot tonight was Green. He should start instead of Zubac. I expect he will, in the very least, get more minutes next game.

Ugh. Fuck. Foster always helps the visiting team. And if anyone argues with him, he goes worse on that team too. He thinks he's never made a bad call. Nobody can talk to him. Players are afraid of looking at him the wrong way. In the 2016 poll of refs, he got the most votes for "worst ref in the entire NBA". How the fuck is he reffing a playoff game? The other two are pretty good at least. Do you remember if Scott Foster was the referee that DoubleTechnical "hated with the passion of 1000 hot suns"?
I can't check the old board.
Is he also the referee that DoubleTechnical had in his avatar?
Bump?
Does anyone remember if that was @doubletechnical's despised referee? And if that was whom he had in his avatar?

This series is over. Warriors are locked in defensively now. They have solved our offense and figured out we have no way of defending them. We put five different guys on Durant and double teamed him most of the time and he still killed us. And Curry can shoot and hit shots from virtually anywhere past the halfcourt line. We really woke these guys up on Monday and I don't think we can put them back to sleep. Looked just like the Jazz did when they lost to the Rockets. Just missing a bunch of three pointers while the other team gets a lot of easy baskets that there is no good defense for.
What I found really funny in this game that at the start of the fourth quarter the Warriors still had all their starters in the game and still wanted to play us. They looked pissed that we surrendered by putting in all of our bench players. They could have beaten us by 50 if they wanted to.
And yes Gallo and Shamet sucked about as badly as any game this season. Could not hit a shot to save their lives. And we need them to shoot at least 50% from the three point line to compete with the Warriors. And Shai was about as tentative as he has ever been. Lots of open midrange shots and he just would not take them. Always passing to somebody else for even a worse shot. And they stopped the Lou and Montrezl pick and roll pretty effectively. And Bogut played a hell of a lot better than anything Cousins has ever done for them. Especially on defense. I did not see anything good about this game except Zubac dominating garbage time in the fourth quarter.

They didn't solve anything. Last night, a single ref made it clear we would not be allowed to play hard defense. So Doc pulled Beverley and that was it. He knew, the fans knew, we all knew the game was over the first moment it started - seconds into the game a foul was called for nothing. A few minutes into the game a foul was called for Beverley literally putting a hand on KD. Doc alluded to it in a way after the game which would avoid a fine - saying we were taken out of our game because we were "always bringing the ball in from side court". He meant we were always coming off a foul call of some sort, on both ends. It was a subtle dig at Foster. Who HATES Doc Rivers.
The only other way to have won was for all our shots to go in, which they were know. they didn't "figure out" our offense because we just clanked wide open shot after wide open shot (which I think is what V-Ice meant when he said we'd have to play perfect). Their defense wasn't even that good. We just couldn't play defense back, and couldn't make a shot.

Problem with our starters was we could not hit the open shots. You are correct about that point. Shamet and Gallo simply did not deliver when left open. But putting Bogut in the key instead of Cousins was a solution to the pick and roll we run. Harrell has all kinds of problems dominating the key when Bogut is in there. And Iguodala sticking to SGA like glue is somewhat of a solution too. So yes we should have been better at shooting but it is also true that their defense is better. Refs did not affect Beverley that much. First two games they were getting Durant the ball past the three point line and he was expected to drive or shoot. This game they kept giving him the ball inside the three point line where he was posting up Beverley or whoever else they put on him and he was shooting over them. So Warriors were using a completely different offensive strategy with Durant. That was designed to take advantage of his height and minimize his dribbling. Most of his shots made were two pointers.

Refs didn't affect Beverley that much? Are you joking? Do you not understand why he only played 18 minutes and had I think four fouls (two which were super quick near the beginning)? Did you not hear any of Doc's presser after the game. Did you not see any of the issues with Foster backing Beverley off? Did you not see they were calling Beverley for literally "being close" to Durant? It changed the whole game. It's why Doc pulled Beverley - the refs made it very clear they wouldn't let him defend on KD. Even the Warriors fans were getting pissy about the number of calls. Most people assume it's because the Warriors admitted they sent tape of Beverley's defense in game 2 to the NBA, and in response they sent Foster as a ref. I mean, we were even talking about Foster in this thread. We knew this was coming. We knew it was a reaction to game 2 - by the refs.

Of course, an optional strategy might have been to try to play some D. Crazy idea, I know, but it might have worked.
Not once throughout the entire game were the Clippers able to get two consecutive stops, including when the Warriors carelessly turned the ball over. Add to that their 10 offensive rebounds, so even when they missed, they got a second shot at it, and their percentage was 55%.
So figure it out, that all actually means virtually every time they got the ball, they scored.

Refs called two offensive fouls on Durant the first four minutes of the game. So they were not letting Beverley hold but they also were not letting Durant use his arms to get free. Curry also was picking up a lot of fouls on defense trying to guard guys close. So they were definitely calling those fouls both ways. Refs are not an excuse and I don't like using them as an excuse. We just got our butts kicked in every facet of the game.
