Clippers + 14. Well here we go. Probably the last game of the season and the end of Ralph Lawler's illustrious career. Ralph - we have enjoyed your fine work for the duration of the Clippers stay in Los Angeles and we will all miss you as the voice of our team. Good luck with your retirement and thank you for all you have given to us Clippers fans.
Now to the game. We benched Zubac last game and went small by putting JaMychal Green in instead. This allowed us to put Green on Durant and have Gallinari guard Bogut. This lineup worked pretty well in that Bogut could not really guard anybody so there was always somebody getting open on offense. So Shai was that guy in the first quarter and got a lot of open shots. Of course the Warriors adjusted by putting Iguodala in the game and yanking Bogut so they could play better defense. So as we all know the Warriors can play big ball or small ball. They killed our small ball lineup on the boards by outrebounding us by 16. And they beat us on the offensive boards 11 to 4. So what we gained in open shots we lost on rebounding. Still we could have beaten them if Gallo and Lou had shot better from the field.
Now the Warriors know exactly what we are going to do so they will be more ready for it. They might yank Bogut earlier and move Green to center. Looney played 18 minutes on Sunday and got 7 boards. Not sure if he is a better perimeter defender than Bogut but my guess would be that he is. Tough to beat these guys because we can't beat them playing bigs like Zubac and we can't beat them playing small ball with Green. They have the answers to whatever adjustments we make.
Klay said after Sunday's game they wanted to close out this series ASAP so they could rest and prepare for Houston. So that is exactly what I expect them to do in this game. We can only beat them if Gallo, Lou, and the rest of the guys all have exceptionally good shooting games. Like 56% from the field and 45% from the three point line. Not sure how we win the rebound battle since the Warriors have been winning that battle every game. Turn them over a lot and get transition points would help. And take care of the ball ourselves. An upset could happen but it isn't likely. They just have way more talent and experience than we do.
