Vegas has the Clippers with best odds to sign Leonard this off-season if he changes teams. Knicks have best odds to sign Durant with Clippers as number 2 if he changes teams. Where did Vegas have Golden State the last time Durant switched teams? If I remember right, everyone expected him to stay in OKC and Golden State was not expected. Vegas has odds on both that each will stay with their current teams. Which is why he said "if he changes teams".

I think warriors had the best odds at the time aside from him staying in OKC, wasn’t exactly a surprise.

Boston was probably a high possibility too. They had Tom Brady in the sales pitch.

I think Kawhi is more likely to be on the Clippers than the Raptors so if you can get better odds for that I would snatch that up. Toronto does have a good solid collection of players, but if Lowry is your number 2 (Siakim is probably 2 now, but Lowry is paid like it) then you're just going to be capped in how far you can go. They may come back in this series, but Lou, Beverley and Trez proved they'll show up bigger when the stakes are highest.

What is to prevent him from taking advantage of it? He could tell a friend/family member to place a $10 million bet and then control the outcome. It would not even be illegal.

I looked up the rule, and the NBA betting rule says, "Any person who, directly or indirectly, wagers money or anything of value on the outcome of any game played by a Team in the league operated by the Association..." This isn't a "game played by a team in the league" so yeah, I am not sure it would even be illegal. In fact...why couldn't he bet it himself, directly? This was a European site I was looking at too. Why couldn't he place a bet in the UK on where he goes?

Why couldn't he place a bet in the UK on where he goes? Totally agree. It makes no sense. He could bet himself or make it less obvious and go through a shell corporation. It's not illegal under any rules or laws. The risk I guess is that the overseas site will just take his money and disappear.

A few hundred grand maybe, but I think they vet bets made that big. Doesn't mean it couldn't be done still, but if whoever took the bet thought something smelled funny they just wouldn't take it

Doesn't mean it couldn't be done still, but if whoever took the bet thought something smelled funny they just wouldn't take it I think that's right, they would only take the bet for small enough amounts that a) it wouldn't make sense for him (or his surrogate) to place the bet when he is about to sign a contract for $150+ Mil, and b) as soon as some bets are placed, the odds would automatically adjust. He could, however, do a friend a favor and have him/her place maybe $20k-$30k. In that case, the odds would adjust when the bet is placed to ensure the house will get its cut regardless. It is those who place the opposite bet who get screwed, but the house doesn't care as long as they get their cut.

Kawhi isn't going to the Knickerbockers. Doesn't fit his style.

Why couldn't he place a bet in the UK on where he goes? This is why (at least for those of us who wouldn't place a bet if our lives depended on it), anyone who does bet seems like an idiot (of course, there are other equally unproductive ways of spending money on entertainment--like going to an NBA game or dropping $100 on a concert or paying a hooker). What is curious to me about this thread is why S.A. Smith should have 'sources' who know what Kawhi is thinking, when last year provided pretty strong evidence that NO ONE knew what he was thinking at any time.
