"'cause we know this team can beat us" means they didn't take the Clippers lightly.
If they had taken the Clippers lightly, they would have said "we didn't think the Clippers could beat us".
Regardless, I still saw a high effort level and intensity to try and win every game, so I think the Warriors tried their best. They didn't act like they were up on the series and that dropping a game didn't matter.
Man "Cause we know this team can beat us" is referring to Rockets...not the Clippers...I included the link so you could read the article as there were many other statements that talked about how much more they respected the Rockets than the Clippers.... The Warriors entered into the Clippers series with respect for the young group and gained even more along the way after a hard-fought six-game series win, but the reality is that the Rockets have had their attention from the beginning. They always understood that a team with James Harden and a healthy Chris Paul had the ability to take them out and it's a huge reason why their focus has been so solid to start the second round. And if you look at all 3 games...either team could have won..there have been no blowouts.... Oops, you're right. I checked the link. The quote is about the Rockets.
Well, just based on how I saw the Warriors play, I didn't think they took the Clippers lightly.
Thompson said he wanted to win game 6 by 30, so again, it seems that they wanted to demoralize the Clippers, and not just win.

Exactly...Thompson wanted to win game 6 by 30 because the Warriors had taken the Clippers lightly...they were embarrassed because they were expected to sweep 4-0....when you read the article (if you did) Is that not what you gathered from it?

I think we just have different interpretations of it.
