Nuggets -1 at Staples tonight. Season opener for both teams. Ralph's last season opener. Not sure who is broadcast partner is. Don McLean doing some of the preseason games with him. Bring back Mike Smith IMO. Not sure what to expect in this game. Boban gets minutes based on preseason play and how he did against the Nuggets last year. We can defend but can we score enough to win. Lou Williams is our closer so he may have to score big in the fourth quarter for us to win some of these games against playoff teams. Tough schedule to open the season with. Need to get this one since it is a home game.

And Clippers1121 gets the first regular season game thread starting original post of the new board!
Problem with Lou Williams scoring big is he usually starts the season off a bit slow and grows into it as the regular season progresses. On the other hand, Gallo should play particularly well against Denver.
I am excited too Clipps. Should be a good game.

There is no official game thread starter on this board that I can see. I guess I started it because nobody else did and it is game day season opener. All future game threads should include game number, location, and time of game if possible. Point spread would be nice too. I don't like the season starting in competition with the baseball playoffs. It makes it necessary to choose or channel flip. Plus all the other NBA teams playing games at the same time as the baseball playoffs. Well no Bruce Bowen, DeAndre Jordan, or Austin Rivers anymore. No Dekker, Jawun Evans, or Wesley Johnson anymore. Thornwell, Teodosic, Harrell, and Lou only four guys who have played 40 games or more for us. Almost a whole new team. Well good luck to us and our fans. Not much to bitch about yet with this team. First bitch will be why isn't Jerome Robinson playing. Didn't we waste a high pick on him. What the hell is wrong with Doc for not playing this talented rookie. First loss will equal the first thing to bitch about.

Do you have a DVR?

Yes I have a DVR. But I never use it to watch sports. I only want to see sports live. Plus, I can get the gist of what is going on by watching pieces of games instead of the whole thing.

The night skyline on the banners is pretty cool.
So are the hands converging.

clippers1121, what happened to the game thread? This was my first time listening to Maggette. I don't love him. I don't dislike him. If he were a full time color commentator, he would be ok. I wouldn't think about changing him. His style fits in with Lawler, so that's why I wouldn't change him. The Nuggets seemed to be not using Jokic much in the first half. Just about every player played pretty well. Beverley is fine running the offense. He can get the ball to Harris and Gallinari. There is a lot of versatility with both the bigs, and the guards. Lawler said that Gortat sets "crushing screens". I don't like the new rule that an offensive rebound resets the shot clock to only 14 seconds. That's going to result in a rushed shot often, IMO. It punishes the offensive team for getting a rebound. If the defensive team gets a rebound, they have more time to run their offense, 24 seconds.

Last night's game really proved that we need better shooters in our backcourt. I don't think Avery Bradley should be starting alongside Beverley. I much prefer the flow of the offence with SGA and Beverley. I also believed Doc mistimed his rotations in the 4th quarter. Boban should have gotten a rest possibly a bit earlier in the 4th so that he could finish off the game.
Overall, we need better shooters in our backcourt. This may mean J. Robinson may need to step up and play some meaningful minutes early on in the season. Possible rotations I see happening over the next few games:
Starting 5 1. Beverley 2. SGA 3. Harris 4. Gallo 5. Gortat
Rotation 5 1. Lou 2. J. Robinson 3. Bradley 4. Montrez 5. Boban

Nuraman00 - you are the admin of this site. You tell me why there isn't a game thread button to start game threads. It was built into "clippertalk" but I don't see it on this message board.
I saw most of the first half of this game last night. Prince2250 is absolutely right in that we need more shooting and scoring from our two guards in order to open up the offense for better interior plays. Disappointed with Bradley and Beverley in that neither one of them really are good offensive leaders. More complementary type players. Which we knew. Correct that we need a high scoring shooting guard like a JJ Redick type whose sole job is to get open shots beyond the three point line and knock them down. Whatever we were doing on offense the first quarter was not working very well. And from what I hear of the second half we had a nice lead and could not close the game because we only got four points in eight possessions. Not good. OKC and Houston coming up this weekend. So we need to improve quickly.

Nuraman00 - you are the admin of this site. You tell me why there isn't a game thread button to start game threads. It was built into "clippertalk" but I don't see it on this message board. ClipperTalk.com was built from scratch. Especially the look of it. There were some basic frameworks used, but every part of it could be customized. This right here is using Pro Board's message board software. They don't just host this site, but they provide the forum software. Even I am a little bit limited as to how much I can change, since I don't have full access to the software. I have access to some UI elements, but not the back end. For example, one of the first things I asked is if I can allow all quotes to be nested, not just the most recent 2. It makes it easier to follow a conversation if all previous quotes are included. The support board said I can't change that, since it's hard coded to only allow 2 quotes max to be included in a reply when using the "quote" button. You can manually copy/paste quotes to create more nests, but you can't have it automatically done with the quote button on this forum. Any changes I want to make have to be in the form of plug-ins. I can also request plug-ins. That's what I did for wwtcbwsr. I requested a longer SN be allowed, so he could have his full SN from ClipperTalk, "WhereWouldTheClippersBeWithoutSeanRooks". Someone developed it and created the plug-in within a few days. But, plug-in requests are done by volunteers. There's no guarantee they will be done, if requested. If someone wants to make the time to do it, then great. But there's no guarantee of if or when they will do it. I think having a new button for game threads would require substantial more work, and probably not possible. But, just to check, I'll put in a request to see if it's possible. If we want the forum to be more customized, then I need to set up a paid host, and install different software on that host. I have done that before, too. MyBB, for example, is a free forum that I can configure and install on a paid host. And I would have full control of the back end. Even then, if I was using a paid host with MyBB installed, creating a game thread button, and having it interact with the rest of the forum software, would probably take some work, as well as testing, to make it look right. If there isn't an existing plug-in on MyBB, for example, that would do this. That's something that I could probably implement at some point, but I'd be doing it on my own time, and it's not something I'd want to do right now. Probably at a later point. Also, for the sake of lost ClipperTalk.com members finding this place, I think it's easier for them if we keep this domain. Since it's something someone could theoretically search for ("clippertalk"), and find. If we were to move to a new host and a new domain, it would be harder for them to find the new place. If we had been up for a few years on ProBoards, and we moved, then it would be easier to migrate everyone. Since I could put notices and such on this Pro Boards site, for the new forum. I'll put in a request to see if someone has already created a Game Thread template.

Tough loss.. Denver is definitely not a basketball town. Baseball was on the main tv's at the bar I was at while the Nuggets @ Clippers were on the small tv's that you have to twist your neck in order to watch.
-Shai is an absolute stud. He plays with a lot of patience and doesn't force anything. He would have 8 or more assists if his teammates were able to knock down their open shots. With his length, he would be a great backcourt mate with Beverley. -Boban needs to be on the floor at the end of games. The guy looks like an adult playing against kids.
-Bradley and Beverley appear to be redundant. Both great defenders, but both lack size. Curry and Klay would go off on those 2. It's very obvious Shai needs to start and either Bradley or Bev come off the bench.
-I want to see Brock get some playing time.
