Can someone PM pageC4 on NewsSurge?
Can someone also check if VFHS is there?

I'm trying to PM VFHS on News Surge. But the PM has "ClipperTalk" as a banned word. I'm not even putting a dot com, but it's still telling me that it's a banned word.

Ok, I made enough posts to be able to PM URLs. But now I can't access my PM inbox on News Surge.
That site is not friendly for new users. Too many restrictions.
I would dislike posting there if I was the type that only made a few posts a week, because chances are that most of my comments would get restricted because the thread is too old or something.

I cannot access my PM box on NewsSurge anymore either. I PMed the person I think was VFHS (given he mentioned the phrase Vaught From His Spot in his opening message) before I got locked out of the PMs.

I PMed the person I think was VFHS (given he mentioned the phrase Vaught From His Spot in his opening message) before I got locked out of the PMs. Yeah, that's the full version of his SN. When you say "locked out of PMs", is this a error message other than not being able to access them today? Today I'm getting some DB error.

I also have a feeling that News Surge is too big to really be able to handle technical support.
I submitted a few issues through the "contact us" form. I doubt I'll hear back, or if they'll really resolve issues.
The one nicer thing about having a medium sized forum is that DoubleTechnical could actually investigate issues. He might not solve every one, but he tried on some issues that people posted about. Like formatting errors, etc.
There's a forum, Inside Hoops, that I've had an ongoing issue since 2011. I can't create threads, even though I'm way over the limit. Every time I email the admin about it, I just get a response like "keep posting, sometimes it takes time to unlock the feature".
That's an example of a forum that's too big to investigate anyone's issue specifically.

And mistwell, do you know what forum htownfan is from?

LOL, now I see this error message when I try to access my PMs on News Surge:
+++++++++
A user is required to have at least 3 reputation votes in order to send PMs after the initial quota is reached. Thank you for your understanding in our quest to reduce spam on this forum!
++++++++++++
I get trying to reduce spam, but just have stronger registration checks.
"reputation" is so superficial. I could have 83 posts and have no reputations. I could have 2 posts and have 6 reputations.
EDIT: It says I have 13 reputations. I don't know what the problem is.

I strongly suspect they saw our effort to recruit people to this new board and addressed it (foolishly - what do they care that we're bringing our own members back to our temp forum?) by adding some new requirements for all sorts of things. And...i think their new requirements broke things in their system.
Dumb.

Banning the word "ClipperTalk" is silly. It puts *'s around that word, if you try to type it.
All I know is that I'm not actually banned yet, because I can still post.
Also, unless they read PMs, then they shouldn't know I was recruiting. I had to use abbreviations like CT to communicate the URL of this place.
(Which I said I was doing).
I'm thinking they create as many problems as they cause, by having so many requirements.
Because you'll then have people sending "contact us" messages about how they can't do this or that.

As far as whether this is a temp forum, I have two thoughts:
* The domain ClipperTalk.com is registered through June 2020. So that shows that DoubleTechnical didn't let it expire. Nor did he intend for the domain to go down, or for the server to expire.
* Paperclips had a fatal hiking accident at the Joshua Tree in 2011. Maybe DoubleTechnical suffered a severe or fatal physical injury, which is why we haven't heard from him.
So there is a possibility that this is the new forum.
Although I hope not, because there were still more users that I liked on ClipperTalk.com, and I liked how he made it his personal project.

Damn I had not heard Paperclips died. That's sad. I thought he just stopped posting or changed usernames (and I always liked that user name).
Also, I do have a phone number for the owner of ClipperTalk. If it ever comes to that, I will try the number.

Also, I do have a phone number for the owner of ClipperTalk. If it ever comes to that, I will try the number. Yeah, I think I found the phone number too. Not sure I want to try that. Or it will have to be a few months before I try that. That's personal info, so I am reluctant to try it. I posted a thread on ClipperTalk.com about Paperclips' accident. I also linked to the article about the accident. clipsentuboca said that he visits the Joshua Tree frequently, and would plant flowers or something the next time he was there. I am a fan of seeing the same fantasy names every year. So I like seeing mannycoon's NBA fantasy name (Nibiru Batsquatches) and his MLB name (High Desert Gnomes) every year. Similarly, with Paperclips, it was Paperclips for NBA, PaperMets for MLB. I could count on seeing those fantasy names every year. Rhy1244 even posted in the fantasy board that Paperclips had been auto-renewed, and we now had to remove him and find replacement to get the even number, back in 2011.

I'll try to see if I can still find the hiking accident article, later.
I had initially asked DoubleTechnical if I should post it, because it revealed his name. He said he wasn't the gatekeeper of news, so he wasn't going to object.
