The draft is set for Monday, March 18 @ 8:00 pm PDT . The MLB season starts in Korea on March 20.
Just wondering htownfan, do you play season long fantasy sports?

I used to enjoy fantasy baseball. Mostly because I know so little about modern baseball teams and player that I had a more objective view on who to add and play.
But I also found I just didn't have the time. It's such a long season.

Yes, I think you mentioned before that you learned to not look at the names, and just look at the numbers, even if they were for players you'd never heard of.
I kind of like finding players I'd never heard of, and seeing them do well, too.
Then, if I do get a chance to see them play that season, I can say "that's the guy."

But I also found I just didn't have the time. It's such a long season. The best story is when you drafted some guy named Blake Snell in 2018. You had no idea who he was.
I had no idea who he was.
He would win the Cy Young that year.
His pre-season ranking was 164. That actually seems kind of high, for someone who I didn't know.

In re Ohtani: Where do you set the over/unders on: (1) # of games suspension; (2) amount of the fine; (3) the number of words in the commissioner's reprimand?

Manfred might not even make an announcement. He seems like the type to let someone else make a statement. Like the disciplinary committee or something.
What is the latest on Ohtani? Is the interpreter still seen as the culprit, or is Ohtani now being included as someone who did something wrong?

It's illegal to wire money to certain gambling operations, and the server he used is not legal in California. Thus the first statement (that he wired money to cover the guy's gambling debts) is essentially an admission of guilt. So they changed the story. Not a good look.

Did Ohtani allegedly wire money to cover the interpreter's gambling debt, or did Ohtani?
Do we know?
What's the latest story?

Yes. It was from Ohtani's account and[ in his first statement, he admitted mailing it. He denied it in the second statement.]
Of course, what will help Ohtani is the fact that agents and 'investment counselors' and 'representatives' and other hangers-on steal huge sums from professional athletes all the time.
LATER: I believe the first statement is incorrect; from his statement today, he clearly did not admit mailing it himself. Today's is his first public statement.

The plot thickens: now it appears that the translator's resume (which includes a degree from UC Riverside, and time working for both the Red Sox and Yankees) is completely fabricated. That's probably good news both for Ohtani and gen. baseball fans who want to see this guy play.

Why aren't the wire transfers with Ohtani's name enough to indict him?
Is there going to be a FBI case? What legal entity is investigating?

Do we want to indict Kareem for all the money his 'reps' stole from him? That didn't involve money for gambling though, did it? I had also not heard about the Kareem thing. What happened?
