Early Blake was great. I imagine he'll reconcile with Ballmer and probably be first in the rafters for Intuit.

"Ralphy Boy" wouldn't dare allow Smith next to him (fairly certain Lawler lobbied to have him fired).
If Ballmer, who ran serious focus groups with fan opinions on a Clipper name change due to it's negative association with Sterling and poor winning/league-laughing-stock history, would have gotten the name change before the new Intuit Dome opened then I'd say "no chance" Blake's number is retired. Even now it'd be difficult to envision #32 up in the rafters as the Clippers really didn't win anything as a collective group...Blake was just a freak dunker who made few All-Star games. Love Blake but doesn't deserve rafter status...I guess we'll see. Do believe Balls and BG will cordially re-connect in a positive way though eventually.

oh, give it a rest. blake was a great passer, a multiple all-star and was third in mvp voting one year. he was key to the turnaround of the clippers, both in terms of the team and also in terms of perception by non-clipper fans. he made the clippers cool in a way we weren't in the dmiles-q-lamar-elton-corey era, which is the only other time that comes close in franchise history. i don't know if he should be the first to have his jersey in the rafters but it should be up there once any start going up.

oh, give your bent-out-of-shape butthole a rest pretending it's not a warranted conversation. I don't necessarily mind if #32 is retired as he did bring in the supercool Lob City-era and was a stellar All-Star player for the Clips. He just never helped propel in what most deem a playoff underachieving team in which is normally major consideration for rafter-ness (look at the Lakers for instance:https://www.nba.com/lakers/history/lakers-retired-numbers ).
It's kinda like Shawn Kemp* or Vinsanity Carter at Toronto. Flyboys without close to a sniff of championships.
*kemp made the final.

"Ralphy Boy" wouldn't dare allow Smith next to him (fairly certain Lawler lobbied to have him fired). IMO, the positive years of them working together, and the impact they had on Clippers fans, outweigh a few contentions moments. They don't have to be friends for the rest of their lives. But there was great chemistry when they worked together. And that's what the rafter should recognize, the working relationship.

I knew something as radical as saying Blake was a good basketball player would trigger the anti-Blake-derangement-syndrome crowd.
[oh yes, FOR it's READ its]
