Sounds like the NBA isn't really what it's all cracked up to be for Milos.

So he negotiates a buy out that's favorable to the Clippers I assume, since it's him insisting on it. Frees up space to pull someone from our G-League team, which is good. Frees up some cap space. I'll be sad to see him go however - he was our best passer, and a good influence for SGA in that respect.

Tis a shame. I really liked Milos. I remember he was promised a starting role when he first signed.

They should play him more. The offense runs much better when he's on the court.

I think he should be the 4th guard instead of Bradley.

Bradley played great last game. Definitely a better defender than Milos. Wallace and Thornwell and Robinson are not getting enough minutes either. It is a real logjam at either guard spot for us. We have eight guards that all deserve minutes and only four who can get those minutes. Milos wants to collect his 6.5 million from the NBA before he departs. So buyout or trade to a team that needs him are certainly possible.

With this many guards on the roster, some have to go, and I'm sure some will be gone by the trade deadline which is two months away. If he's not getting minutes now, that indicates he is not one of the guards the FO is looking to trade so they are showcasing the others.
This may be a signal to the FO that he wants to be one of the guards they will trade. Can't say that I blame him, he's too good to be completely out of the rotation when he could be a starter somewhere else, or at least a backup to one of the elite PGs.

I understand he isn't happy, but why can't we just keep him and tell him tough shit you signed a contract, play it out? It's only one more season and we can always tell him we will try to move him by the trade deadline. He isn't a superstar player like Jimmy Butler.

He exercised his option, he didn't have to do that so I don't really feel bad for him. It was probably a tactic to get management to decline it and pay him 2m or whatever and maybe they should have, but if he really wanted to play elsewhere it was in his hands.

He is about to have his first child in February. Can't imagine that he cares that much about changing his whole life at this point when he can sit on the bench making 6.5 million. This story is probably just bullshit about him telling his fans in Europe what they want to hear. That if he isn't starting and playing big minutes then of course he is unhappy and wants to go back to Europe. He is still a hero and champion over there with a lot of fans he has to pander to. Especially the Serbs. Privately he probably would be content to just play out his contract here and not be traded.

I’m not sure Jimmy Butler is a superstar deserving of a max contract. He’s a good player but not the type guy who can take you to the promised land without a loaded team surrounding him. He’s a 2nd banana.

2nd bananas get max contracts. That's how that works. Teams get two max contracts. I don't know where the concept of "Only the top 5 players get max contracts" came from, but the CBA is more flexible than that.

Just because a team can give max contracts does not mean they should give them out. They don't have to. And teams that give max contracts to second tier stars like Butler usually end up regretting it. The Clippers do not have a max contract right now. Should they just give one to Tobias because he is probably the best player on the team? No way.
