ESPN has an article about the Lakers on its home page every day even though the Lakers are nowhere near one of the best teams.

Does it really matter where we are ranked at this point? It is only November. We all know what the WC standings look like. This is like leading a golf tournament after the first round. Sure it feels great but what matters is where you are after the last round. They don't give you any money or trophies for leading the first round. But using the golf analogy, you can't win a tournament by leading after the first round but you sure as hell can lose it after the first round if you shoot an 80 or something. So yes we are still in the game at this point which is a surprise to me as well as a lot of other people. Analysts opinions don't really concern me. My opinion is that we have been winning close games that could easily have gone the other way so we should not be that high in the rankings.

Clippers are first in the west. Who would have thought that would happen after almost a quarter of the way through the season? Nobody But we are only 3.5 games from being the 9th seed. West is tighttt

Betting the Clips at over 36.5 wins was a gimme. Too bad my gambling buddy ( he bets daily on everything) and myself only put $500 total on it. We also put $500 on Lakers under 49.5 wins. Feel pretty good but we shall see.

I always say don't judge a team till after 30 games (we are at 19 I think), but even the most optimistic of Clipper fans could not have predicted this so far.
I would still just be happy to see this team make the playoffs and compete in the first round. You know guys like Gallo, Beverley and Bradley are all going to get hurt at some point and our depth will be tested, but I think that is a strength of this team.

One interesting thing I've learned recently is that Balmer invested in the most state of the art sports injury prevention team in the history of sports. Behind the scenes, this is the most cared for team in the NBA in terms of preventing injuries.
Will Gallo, Beverley and Bradley suffer long term injury this season? I don't know. But, I think the odds of that happening went down for each of them this year.

Blake Griffin was the most cared for athlete in terms of physical preparation than anybody in NBA history. Yet he ruptured his plantar fascia to his big toe in a playoff game. And Gallo hurt his glute in some bizarre injury last season. And Mbah a Moute's knee this year is still a mystery. Not convinced we can prevent injuries no matter what technology is used.

Mbah arrived injured. And we didn't have the facility in operation when Blake was here, or last year for Gallo. I believe it's new this year. There was a big push by Balmer for it. We cannot prevent all injuries of course, but I do think the odds of an injury decreased. It's not all just random luck, and the part that can be prepared for and addressed in advance and during, is now being prepared for and addressed in advanced much better.

I do agree that Balmer’s investment here will pay off some in the long term, it’s a good thing for the franchise.
