Lakers fans are now talking #tankforzion. They think there is a conspiracy in the league to get the Lakers back to being a top team for ratings reasons, and the way it will happen is for the draft to be fixed so they get the first pick.

But you said Lebron wouldn't let the Lakers miss the playoffs? I said no such thing. I can’t imagine a LeBron lead team to miss the playoffs. After blowing it to the only team mathematically out of the playoffs, putting playoffs and 18-19 Lakers and playoffs in the same sentence is beyond laughable. Your quote on Feb 22: "Every game is important. Despite being a dumpster fire, I can’t imagine LeBron letting his team miss the playoffs." Do you want to retract that now?

Saying “I can’t imagine LeBron...” is not the same as “LeBron won’t miss the playoffs.” Every game still is important. I don’t want to be caught with all of my eggs in 1 basket.

Sorry dude but "I can’t imagine LeBron letting his team miss the playoffs" means that you can't see Lebron letting the Lakers miss the playoffs. It's ok to admit you bought into the Lebron and Lakers hype machine a little bit and were wrong about that.

It was perfectly rational to believe the Lakers would make the playoffs. It wasn't "hype machine". Not one single odds maker had them missing the playoffs, much less with an under .500 record. "Hype machine" was "Lakers are in championship contention again!" not "Lakers will make the playoffs and have a winning record."

Maybe at the beginning of the season, but not on Feb 22 when they had something like an 8% statistical chance to make the playoffs. At that point it's buying into the hype that Lebron is a magical person.

I knew LeBron and the young Lakers players would have zero chemistry. I didn’t think it would be this bad for them, though.

Of course you are cherry picking the best odds. But even taking that at face value, 80% chance that they will not make the playoffs should not equal "I can't imagine" they will not make the playoffs (basically you would be surprised if they would not make the playoffs). That's just not based on any reality. Saying "I doubt they will make the playoffs but it would not shock me if they did" would be at least a little more realistic.

I am not cherry picking the best odds. 538 is the only site I can recall going to for playoff odds. They have two sets of odds. One they favor, which is CARMELO, and one they claim is outdated, which is ELO. I've been seeing ELO be more accurate this year however. But if someone believes their favored rating, that's not nutty it's pretty normal. And I am STILL having a hard time wrapping my head around Lebron missing the playoffs. I think most people are. I don't think it's hype. He's so good that it's really unexpected even now that this is happening. That's not love for him or the Lakers, it's just appreciation for what he's done in the game historically.

Right now, looking at our schedule, I'd say we win 45-46 games by seasons end. I can see as high as 48. That is, unless a couple of teams shut it down to end the season because they're locked in to playoff spots, and then it could in theory go as high as 50 wins. But I doubt that.

I think we no longer have to worry about those below us. Can we catch the Jazz, Blazers, Rockets and Thunder?
Speaking of Rockets. Catching them in the standings or beating them in a playoff series would be the ultimate fuck you to Chris Paul. A Dream season for me is to sneak into the 2nd round and face the Rockets.

We are currently 3.5 games behind 3rd seed. Being 7th will help us avoid the Warriors.

I'm thinking we'll end up in the 6th seed and play Portland in the first round.
