Just saw and was about to post this. No way we can move Plum.
This is going to hurt us.

That entirely depends on who we move Plumless for now doesn't it.

That entirely depends on who we move Plumless for now doesn't it. Are you basing this on an actual rumor that the Clippers were shopping Plumlee? Or is it your suggestion? I haven't seen any such rumor. He's an excellent backup.

I haven't seen any such rumor. He's an excellent backup. On X the reporters float him and Tucker, but I think it's not based on "rumor" but rather salary. They're almost the only combo of salaries that work without doing like a 4 for 1 or 5 for 1. But those speculations were before we knew Zu was down for at least a month.

Zu to be reevaluated in 4 weeks, trade deadline is in 3 weeks. So unless Zu is included in a trade, we are keeping all 3 of our centers. Question is, how do we leverage that without wasting talent?
Or do we consider trading Zu...? Now that we have Plumlee & Theis, would we give up Zu for a quality PF? I might be tempted if we had a shot at a stud two-way PF, especially if he's young. OKC could certainly use someone like Zu and they have tons of draft picks. Could we involve a third trading partner who is rebuilding, has a quality PF, and would give him up for picks?

By all means trade Zu--I wonder if Muscala is available?

Guys we are not trading Zu or Plumlee. That is crazy talk. Plumlee just went down and now Zu is down. If Plumlee gets injured we are totally screwed. We need both of these bigs. They are both very good players and it is doubtful we get anyone better. Coffey has been playing well lately. I could see his trade value going up. They could trade some of our decent young players out of the rotation like Boston or Hyland or Brown. Maybe even the 2030 pick. But not Plumlee or Zubac. The only way they trade Zu is if his injury is much much worse than reported and he's out for the season. But who would want him at that point anyway?

Teams don't have 3 quality centers, no matter how good they are. If you have 2 and one of them goes down, then that's just life in the NBA. Is there any team in the league that has 3 quality players at any given position just in case one of them goes down? 3 quality PGs? 3 quality PFs? 3 quality SFs? That's crazy. In fact, the quality drop off from starter to backup is already steep enough, let alone a 3rd stringer. That's why rotations tighten up in the playoffs, usually 8-players and never more than 10. It makes no sense to be paranoiacally reactive and fight the last war. Yes, in the last war we were caught short-handed when Plumlee went down, but that was because we had no power forwards. It wouldn't have been such a desastre if we still had Batum and RoCo.

Zu can't battle with Jokic for an entire game. We've seen that movie before. We need both Zu and Plumlee.

But it's not a given that he would work out in that role. And he would not have the primary assignment to do battle with Jokic (or Emiid or any other elite center for that matter), it would be Plumlee's. And I think Plumlee can do nearly as good a job as Zu, or at least the drop off would not be that drastic. And needing both Zu and Plumlee to deal with Jokic is absurd unless they are both going to be on the court together or unless Jokic plays 48 minutes.

Kind of like how Draymond is 6'6 and guards Jokic. Theis isn't going to do great, but I can't really think of any bench Centers who are going to hang with Jokic. I think if we had to choose, we'd be better off with 2 Centers and a PF who can play small ball Center than 3 Centers and not the tweener 4/5. Assuming they are similar in value. Then you still have 2 guys who can guard the Centers still, with the PF/C maybe filling in as the emergency back up while that guy still being able to guard perimeter players on switches or the Aaron Gordon/Towns/Chet types if needed. Kawhi can do it if we need him to, but you'll need someone to do it when he's out of the game or if you'd rather have him on a perimeter guy.

Siakam wasn't realistic for us. He wants max money and there's just no way for us to pay him along with PG/Harden/Kawhi and have any hope to still have any roster around those guys so you'd also be saying bye to Zu, Norm, Mann etc. I also don't think he fits us that well anyway.

Speaking of Draymond, he is one of the guys on the trading block, and one of the guys potentially in a Tucker and Plumlee and a Pick trade.
