Last night's game was easily the most frustrated and angry I've been all season. It felt like the last four years before this season. Basically, in general, the three things that piss me off, all happened in this game - in large doses.
#3 - Terrible Refereeing.
Clips down 7-2. Harden gets fouled on a three and they say he stepped out of bounds. He did not. While his heel did go over the line, it didn't touch the ground. The front part of his foot - the part that was on the ground, was in bounds. Instead of now being down 7-5, we're quickly down 9-2, then 11-2 and here we are again, out of the gate like crap. Except this isn't Washington, Detroit or Atlanta. It's against a really good team. Hard to win when you spot a good team by 9.
Game tight in third quarter, ball tipped by Kawhi, then tipped by a NO player out of bounds. I saw it clearly at the time. Three clips point in the direction of our basket. But the ref inexplicably calls it New Orleans ball.
Fourth Quarter - Zion shoots a 6 foot airball over the rim. He catches his own shot (illegal) and then goes up and gets fouled. No call.

#2
Horrible coaching by Ty Lue.
a) Let's start with not challenging three plays that we would have won. Why didn't he? The second two were obvious (he had already successfully challenged one call). We have ten assistant coaches on the bench lined up like soldiers. Can't one of them watch the replay on an iPad and communicate to the coach? What century are we in?
b) Valenciunas is going to be out the second half. They don't have a backup center. Easy decision to take advantage and play Zu and go to Zu as much as possible (or Plumlee). For some head-scratching reason, rather than take advantage of the situation, Lue decides to even the playing field and go small. Unbelievable. FYI, Zu and Plumlee were a combined a combined 9-9. And the Clips didn't feed Zu at all. Just stupid.
c) There was a point in the fourth quarter when Zion took it to Plumlee one-on-one six times straight and scored. I had flashbacks to Jamal Murray kicking Shamet's ass one-on-one over and over again in the playoffs and Doc doing nothing. Jesus - double Zion, put Zu in (he did a few minutes later but it was too late). I thought Ty Lue was supposed to be great at adjustments? Fucking adjust.

#1.
Paul George. Jesus Christ. Jesus Fucking Christ.
a I won't belabor the many many stupid decisions, but one stands out to me above all others. Somehow he had the ball on the perimeter fairly early in the shot clock. In front of him (under the three point line) were five red jersey. Not a single black jersey was in the picture - certainly none under the three point line. Does our basketball genius,
i. Hold the ball and wait for his teammates to get in position so they can run a half court set? ii. take it to the basket and try to get fouled iii. take a shot
Nope. Unbelievably, in this one on five situation, he took a step-back three. With no chance of a rebound. Zu not under the basket. Mann not in the half court set to follow-up and clean up his shit. Here's the kicker: He was 0-5 from three at the time.
b) How many times can Ty Lue allow this guy to open the game with four lazy J's and get us in a hole in the first four minutes?
c) This 'hall of famer' simply cannot run a fast break. He doesn't know where to go, he doesn't know when to pass it. It's really incredible how lost he is on a 2-1 fast break. Jesus.
d) I'm not going to go into the stumbling/bumbling TO's
e) How is this guy an All-Star? Over Harden? Over Zion? Over D'Aron Fox? Over Sabonis? Hell, over Brandon Ingam, or even CJ McCollum? Does any other all-star have a PER remotely close to his 18.something? Here's a question to ponder. Clips playing tonight - one guy is going to be announced as out for us - Paul George or Norman Powell? Which guy being out makes you say 'damn it' more?

I can’t think of one other player that is more overrated than PG. Didn't people here mock your idea of a PG for Zion deal? Would’ve been a steal for us.

I can’t think of one other player that is more overrated than PG. Didn't people here mock your idea of a PG for Zion deal? Would’ve been a steal for us. Yes, Mistwell thought that one was crazy and several other people thought PG for Rudy Gobert was crazy. Then again, Mistwell thinks Paul George is better than Shai, so we should probably exclude anything he says. (Cue the 'Talen Horton-Tucker' remark after claiming that he blocks me but thought this one was interesting so he unblocked me) The only other player who I can think of who was in the ballpark of PG in terms of being overrated was Carmelo.

How is he valued the same as Kawhi? The 'Clippers with PG and Kawhi or without PG and Kawhi' is ludicrous. Kawhi with Zu or Kawhi with or without Normal Powell would be similar. It's kind of like bragging that the DiMaggio brothers had more homers than any other brother combination. National guys - Kendrick Perkins and even freaking John Hollinger - attribute our success this year to 'Kawhi and PG being healthy'. Yeah, that's part of it. But PG's health doesn't compare to the importance of having Harden on the team.

Tell me how you really feel CAM? I always do. That's why guys like Trapp, Mistwell, Dane, Clipps and HitnRun can't stand me. But at the end of the day, it really revealed more about them than about me.

I can’t think of one other player that is more overrated than PG. Didn't people here mock your idea of a PG for Zion deal? Would’ve been a steal for us. I can't defend PG's recent play. If he's hurt he should just sit until he's healthy. It wasn't just the missed shots in that game. He was bad to average in every facet. Decent on defense, but Coffey can replicate that decently. This version of him doesn't help us, but the one we had before was. I'm over Zion though. He keeps coming in overweight. He still has no jumper. And last night he wasn't even that good. Like it was pretty easy to shut him down when Zu guarded him since he can't just outmuscle him. He killed Plumlee though. After doing it twice I was like oh shit he can just do this every time, Ty needs to get Zu back in. Ty went small for a minute because he was saving Zu for the last 6 min bc of his min restriction. But Kawhi even did pretty well on Zion too. Crazy that our SF is stronger than our back up C. I like Plumlee, but it's a mismatch that we can't see again.
