We know what Tucker's issue has been. Sounds like Bones is more of a performance issue and him not staying ready to play. I get that it was frustrating for him to be out of the rotation, but still can't let that happen.

I get that it was frustrating for him to be out of the rotation, but still can't let that happen. The tough part for them is that when they were taken out of the rotation, the team became the winningest teams in the league. How can you argue against that? Nothing succeeds like success. In PJ's case, he could have passed on his player option for next year so he can be traded to a team where he can get some PT. He didn't, so he needs to just accept his fate gracefully.

Not an ounce of sympathy for PJ Tucker.
Bones' case is different. He joined the team at the trade deadline last year and due to him and Westbrook, the whole vibe changed and we were a really good team. Then this year, he was our best player in the pre-season (doesn't mean anything, but still, he was dynamic). Then he was terrific when we started the season 3-1. The Harden came.
Since then, he's been cheering like crazy on the bench. I don't know what 'not prepared' means. It's not like he's put on weight. And I believe that Ty Lue has been making a mistake in not playing him sometime - he's important insurance if Westbrook or Harden gets injured. So there's two sides on this one.

I actually wish Bones would gain weight. I think just reading between the lines that he's not getting played at all sometimes even in some of the blow outs tells me Bones wasn't locked in or working on improving once he get demoted. You don't want to judge it off garbage time, but he was mostly pretty terrible in those games when he should be dominating lesser competition. He does seem like a good teammate though.

Bones didn't take reduced playing time wekkin Denver last year. I am sure he hasn't taken no playing time very well either this season. He had worked on his game in the offseason and played well at the start of the season too, he deserves playing time, but the situation just changed against that happening.

PJ - I get that you want to play, but you are still being paid $11-$12 million right? So STFU!

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday morning about sending home Tucker and Bones Hyland, Lue suggested that Hyland may have submitted his own trade request prior to last week’s deadline after receiving scant playing time the past few months. The third-year guard has struggled in his limited garbage-time minutes, Charania and Murray note. “You want to have competitors on your team,” Lue said. “They want to play. So when you try to get traded, it doesn’t work out, and you want to go to a place (where you can) play, it doesn’t mean they’re not happy here. They are. But they want to play, they want to compete.” Tucker holds a $11.54MM player option for 2024/25, while Hyland is owed a guaranteed $4.16MM in the final season of his rookie scale contract.
