Kind of feels like they're almost somewhat experimenting with things to try to find something that will work. Definitely concerning. Maybe this plan to strengthen the knee is what will help him, but hard to feel optimistic when they can't figure out this inflammation still. Not sure why the Clippers got so bent about him being removed from Team USA when we're almost into the season and it sounds like he most likely won't be ready to start the season and there will likely be a ton of load management and probably lots of checking on the knee to see how it's responding.

History of LA Clippers lying/ keeping fans in the dark about Kawhi Leonard’s injuries
2021 Playoffs : Listed with right knee sprain and were bluffing that he could return in a potential NBA FINALS, after season come out and say he tore his ACL and needs surgery
2021-2022: Bluffed that he could potentially return in the playoffs, was on a mins restriction to begin the following season 5 months later
2022-23: listed him as day to day for 12 missed games instead of just saying he had a set back in recovery
2022-23: gets pulled out of a game vs Memphis midway through & Ty Lue was visibly upset and had no clue what was going on
2022-23: Leaves game with “facial contusion” yet no mask was worn the next game or any visible hit to the face was shown vs New Orleans in a game I [DimeDropper] attended
2022-23: ruled out with right knee sprain after Game 2 vs Phoenix and acted like he could return in the series but come out and say he tore his meniscus after elimination
2024 Summer: Apparently pulled from Team USA when he was “good to go” yet isn’t ready to start training camp as a full participant & Lawrence Frank says the swelling has gone DOWN since then. So his knee was swollen more 2 months ago and you were gonna let him play full speed Olympic Games?
News comes out that he had a clean up procedure in his knee & is currently in recovery mode

I honestly have no comment on this. Kawhi should just retire. Seriously.

Clippers might have lied. But whatever journalist I listened to in mid summer, had reported that Kawhi didn't look good. I heard, and this is speculation, that Kawhi didn't look that good and wanted a minutes restriction. Rather than keep him, and have open speculation as to why he wasn't playing so many minutes, they wanted someone else where they wouldn't to answer questions as to why he is playing X minutes. Of course, at that time, I don't think they knew the Tyrese Haliburton and Jayson Tatum situations would play out the way they did. It might have been an even worse look if there were three players that played infrequently. A journalist on the radio. I don't remember who anymore since I listen to multiple shows per day. It was pre Thursday, I think. If I could have remembered which show, I could have relistened via podcasts.

Can we somehow get medical release and just waive this bag of shit and spend our money elsewhere?? THIS IS NOT GOOD. (and of course we will never really know the real reason from the Clip org.) Looks like they're trying to con us into thinking he backed out because he wants to focus on being healthy for the Clippers..... suuuure.. Im not falling for that one.

There's only 1 way Kawhi plays in the playoffs, assuming we make the playoffs...sit him until March 1. That's the only way and even that's not a guarantee.

My prediction at the end of the season for the off-season was exactly this. The announcement just came later than I thought.

Not sure what your prediction was but not sure anything has been validated at this point. The club has just disclosed a procedure that may have happened a couple of months ago…at least I didn’t see anything indicating it was recent. Trying to see the glass half full here. Let’s just say they think he is fine but instead of going full bore in the preseason they have decided to further strengthen his knee and rest up until the regular season. Then let’s say the procedure helped the swelling issue and he’s actually benefitted from it. I don’t need Kawhi playing in preseason games…would rather give his minutes to unknowns like Jones and Bamba and see what they can offer before the season begins.

There had been some reporter that used the term "I heard Kawhi had a cleanup procedure during the off-season". And then that was dropped and no other reporter ever brought that up again. Sounds like that person was correct. Wish I could figure out who said that and when.
Edit: Here it is. "Skip Bayless: "[Kawhi] had another clean up surgery this offseason because he has one every off season because he has chronically bad both knees"" -Three Months Ago

The timelines of it being 3 months ago do not really add up. He was set to play for the Olympic team in mid July and then apparently got dismissed against his and the Clippers wishes. I guess it's possible the procedure was right after that, but again is still odd that the Clippers were so vocal about their displeasure about him being released off the Olympic team. And considering he may not even be ready to start the season, it's baffling that he would've wanted to play in the Olympics and then have the clean up procedure in mid August instead of mid July, pushing his return to the Clippers to December or January. 3 months ago definitely wouldn't have made sense because he was ramping up for the Olympic team at that time.

He could have had the procedure 3 months ago, and thought he'd be ready by the Olympics.
He then could have realized he wasn't as ready, and wanted a minutes restriction in the Olympics. The Olympics team didn't want to have him if he was going to be on a restriction.
The Clippers could have then tried to tell the rest of the world that the Olympics team was mean, because the procedure was still a secret, and to save face.

Please pull the plug; don't let only half the 213 swill drain away. Waive him, and if LAC sucks for a couple of years, so be it; we're used to it.

Did you watch sailing in the Olympics?
