Suns -5.5
New coach for the Suns. I think they'll be pretty improved this year. Not sure what to expect out of the Clippers first game. A lot of Harden. This offense probably should run through Zubac more than it has in years, otherwise we'll be fairly easy to defend. Defense should be solid though.

What's the starting lineup?
If powell is starting I'm not happy. But he probably is.

They were sub solid the past two years, and now Harden is a main perimeter defender. Not good.
But, I like the overall roster balance in terms of size. They just need to prove that it means something, and isn't just on paper.

Defense solid? With Harden and Powell in the backcourt? That lineup won't last long against Booker, Beal, and Tyus Jones. They'll try to score there way past the Suns guards that they can't stay in front of, but then there's also Durant shooting over and undersized defense. Problems, problems.

Yeah the starting backcourt isn't great, but a lot of rotation guys with good defense. The other 3 starters are all plus defenders. And also Coffey, Batum and Dunn off the bench. Not a ton of two way guys on this team unfortunately, they really need Harden to be a big time scorer without Kawhi. So far he's off.

At the game. The venue is a surreal experience. They’ve thought of everything. Attention to details is off the hook. Very, very impressed.
Clips started out playing exceptional team D. But soon got exhausted doing it.
Van Gundy is very active and very hands on. If you didn’t know better you’d think he’s the head coach.

KD locked up Harden the last few minutes and OT and we have very few counters.
Biggest positive- I thought Derick Jones Jr looked really good out there on both ends.
Biggest negative- Only 1 game, but Norm doesn't look nearly as potent as a starter.
Another positive- Kris Dunn is awesome defensively.
We couldn't make the Suns pay for going small and it ended up hurting us to even try. We tried going to Zu on the mismatch, but it's hard just getting the ball down low.
Harden had his moments, but the load is huge for him and he got sloppy with turnovers and missing some floaters. I wanted him to go for the 3 and the win when he drove at the end to get the foul. He was just too exhausted at that point and KD initiating offense was advantage Suns.
Would've been nice to sneak out the win, too bad.

I saw one negative...and that was the Clipper front office. We should have never extended Kawhi and we should have never resigned Harden after how he performed over the last 40 games and post season.

Harden gassed a bit, but he brought the Clippers back almost single handedly in the third. He can still be elite, he just can't quite be Houston Harden. He needs a secondary guy. He was even engaged defensively for a lot of the game. The Clippers are going to have trouble in 4th quarters without Kawhi though. When the Suns have Booker and Durant who can get good shots any time, it's not something we can match.

Watching this team last night, they just don't have much room for error. Harden isn't going to go for 29 nightly and we just don't have many offensive weapons, so we have to play great defense and limit turnovers. I hoping that Powell's injury to his shooting hand isn't lingering.
