Nurkic leg injury in double OT.
He is likely out for the season, and the playoffs.
A fan holds up a "Nurk Love" sign.

Holy shit! I feel bad for him and Portland, but that's massive for us. If we can keep the 5 spot, or climb to the 4th, we have a serious chance of beating them in the first round with Nurkic out. He was our key matchup problem with them.

Outside of Lillard, Nurk is the team’s mvp. Huge blow to the Blazers. Unfortunately life happens. I’m glad they got the win.

Once I saw the injury...ugh. Wow. Sickening to see. I feel awful for him. Best year of his career. No question this is season ending, and I have no idea if he can even play next year. Could it even be career-ending? I don't know.
They have CJ out as well, at least for 3 more games and maybe more (I think the original time table had him out for 4 more).
They have this schedule left: Bulls, Hawks, Pistons, T-Wolves, Grizz, Nuggets, Nuggets, Lakers, Kings.
Normally I'd say they would win all those except Nuggets. But, without a center, and with CJ out for now (at least through Pistons and possibly T-Wolves and Grizz)? I don't know. They probably lose that Pistons game now. They could lose one of Bulls/Hawks/T-Wolves. They could lose to Kings to end the season as a spoiler. I can definitely see them losing more games going forward than the Clippers now, and I didn't envision that happening before.

Nets were playing bully ball under the boards. Holding Nurkic down, boxing him out, punching him in the nose. The elbow to the nose almost knocked him out in the first overtime. That wasn't basketball the Nets were playing. They had Allen foul out so they had Dudley and Dinwiddie trying to play center. And since Nurkic had six inches on them and neither could guard him they resorted to holding and shoving and anything else to try and keep him away from the basket. Refs should have called a lot more fouls on the Nets players and the injury would have never happened. I feel bad for Nurkic. He played with a lot of heart last night and got his leg broke in two for his efforts.

Prob not career ending, same thing happened to Paul George and he came back. Bummer but Portland benefited from this when they played us in the first round a few years back and CP/Blake went down.

I was just about to post the same thing Trapp. We win that series if CP and Blake play. Time for retribution.

It will be harder once the playoffs start. Kanter had a nice alley oop to Zach Collins yesterday. Kanter's defensive problems might not hurt in the regular season, since Portland isn't good on defense anyways. And some of that is because of Lillard too.

When Griffin's rookie season injury was announced, fairwayfreddy20 from the Portland boards was one of the first people to offer condolences. That was the only time he ever posted on the ESPN Clippers boards.
Portland fans could relate, since they had gone through the same thing with Oden a few years ago, with Oden missing his rookie season.
It also took me a long time to figure out his SN was named after Fred Couples.

I wonder if the NBA is gonna punish that ref for kicking Nurkic’s leg. I’m sure he didn’t mean it but he didn’t even look back when Nurk was in obvious pain.

Watch @ 0:13 as the ref bumps Nurkic's foot while he's on the ground.
You can hear the crowd chant his name at 1:09.

First of all fuck that ref. So much for "refs are blind". I hope he didn't damange the leg more by bumping into him.
Secondly, I really feel for Dame and Portland. I thought this could be their season to make an upset but that is over now. The pick and roll was one of the best in the league IMO. If you look at highlights you always see Nurk doing a screen. This must hurt bad if you're a fan. The Portland curse is real. I hope he recovers and comes back stronger. Hate to see those things.
