Wow, big move.
Clippers could still retire Brand. It's not Brand's fault that the Clippers didn't offer him the VP of Basketball Operations role 2 years ago.
He took high position, and now it's even better.

Interesting. Elton seemed pretty smart, but he didn't come across as GM-level smart. I'm not sure he's even as smart as Doc Rivers. But maybe he has a lot of good sense or something. We'll see, but I'm somewhat skeptical

Did the Clippers offer him a front office job comparable to what the 76ers did? (I might have missed it.)

Is there a press conference? I'm interested as to what ideas he has.

I know Elton and his wife are from the East Coast and she wanted to be close to family. That drove signing with Philly as a player and working with them as an exec. From Elton's era, Corey Maggette seems to have embraced the Clippers after retirement.

Cuttino Mobley attends games and, of course, Sam Cassell is on staff.

Does Maggette have weekly or daily appearances on radio shows? To me, "embracing" should be more than doing a few game broadcasts a year. There should be at least a weekly segment on radio shows, if not more frequently. Kelena Azubuike has a daily segment on a radio show. Gary St. Jean does 2 appearances a week. There's other teams where I also notice that former players not only are a part of every game broadcast, but they also have weekly or multiple times a week appearances on radio shows. If a former player is to embrace a team during his post-playing career, I expect to hear from him about the team at least on a weekly basis, if not more frequently, so I can get his current take on the team. I'm someone that always looks out for segments like that, especially radio segments. The Miami Heat have a special 1 hour weekly show on the Spanish radio station. www.nba.com/heat/news/radio_marketing_agreement_070608.htmlGiven the Clippers diverse demographic and market, they should do something like that too on a Spanish station. The Miami Heat also have a 1 hour pre-game and 1 hour post-game radio show. I posted about this on the ESPN boards. www.nba.com/heat/news/heat_signs_radio_contract_with_790_the_tickets_2010.htmlI was disappointed when another team cut their pre-game and post-game from 1 hour to 30 minutes, in the mid 2000s. If the Clippers don't have 1 hour pre-game and post-game radio shows, then they're not giving their fans the full service. Sure, the radio station has to agree to allow that kind of airtime, but if both sides (the team and the station) can agree to a deal, then the fans get the full gameday experience.

Maggette has always supported the Clippers even after he left. I remember Cat attending games during those playoff runs. I'm surprised we don't hear as much about Pike and Kaman. Kaman is an outdoors guy so he probably just wants to live a lowkey life.

Was mad at Brand for how he left, but looking back I can't hate on him for not wanting to work for DTS anymore.
