Don't know if the DJ thing is serious or not, but I don't know if there's a center in the league I'd want to pay max money to except for Davis and that's because he can literally do anything on the court. Otherwise even paying big money to a Center is not a good use of resources with the state of the game. DJ's defense has slipped, but he's still a good player. The position is just devalued, he may be a little overweight (still in good shape) to be the force on defense he once was.

Who would have guessed DJ could shoot 78% from the FT line. Still a long way to go, but it's not like he's only shot 30 free throws on the year. His 58% last year seemed like a massive jump. He was 48% the year before, was it Paul's demandingness causing him to miss?

I was looking at ESPN's real plus/minus DRPM the other day and he was up there near the top of the league by that standard. But I'm not sure if it's an exact science.

I think it values defensive rebounding highly (which it should) so DJ's rebound hogging may help him a bit more than it should. He's still a good defender when he wants to be and not that blocks are everything but 2 years in a row where his blocks are way down. DJ should get 2 blocks a night rolling out of bed.

DJ and Dallas just crushed the Rockets last night to pull into eighth place in the WC. Dallas needed a center. It provides stability to Carlisle's whole offensive system. And DJ's stroke while shooting free throws looked really good. No wonder he has improved to 78%.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll ask the question here: who gets credit for where we are know?
Accepting that Lob City had to be broken up and getting back assets without taking on big contracts is what got us to this point. Does Jerry get all of the credit? Or Ballmer? Or Doc?
WAS is in the same boat now and HOU will be there this offseason. You can't commit 90% of the salary cap on three players who aren't top 10 players.

Don't you think Lawrence Frank deserves the bulk of the credit? He has been the GM since they fired Rivers from that position. Give a big assist to Ballmer and West though. It is one thing to plot personnel moves and another thing to have an owner with the balls to go through with the moves. And West is the best consultant in the business regarding player evaluation.
