Re: The idea of fixing the game by providing monetary incentives is obscene. These are all-star players and as such, they all make a ridiculous amount of money already. The idea that they need more money to make a frigging effort is offensive. How about each side chooses a charity and the money goes to the charity. Maybe they can be shamed into playing right? Or better yet, fans vote on all-star players, right? Let the fans vote out players who they feel did not play with effort and disqualifying the offending players from playing the following year. Let's see if Luka would dare attempt a 3 from the back court just for fun. I really like the charity idea. Then if you dog it you just come off as an a-hole. Right now they play for a charity chosen or picked per each conference. If every individual player had to pick his own charity, and with more money going to charity the further each player goes, in mistwell's tiered round approach, then yeah, if an All-Star just gets the minimum for his charity, it will stand out.

Oklahoma City, Memphis, Portland, and Sacramento have never hosted an All-Star game.
How can those cities host the NBA Finals (hypothetically), but not an All-Star game?
I would think there would be more media lodging requirements for the NBA Finals. Given the number of international media that cover it.
214 countries covered the 2023 NBA Finals, in 60 languages.
Does that mean that broadcasters from each of 214 countries, flew to the USA for the NBA Finals?
The 2024 All Star game was broadcasted by 215 countries in 60 languages. Almost the same numbers.
In the MLB, only Tampa Bay has not hosted All Star game.
