7PM PST
TV: TNT Radio: 1150
Odds: DAL -1.5, O/U 216.5
Injuries: Kawhi GTD.
Dallas was "very upbeat" before Game 1. What is their mood today?
Hey look, Clippers gained a whole point in the odds after that Game 1 beatdown. At least the oddsmakers have figured out to lower the game total from 224 to 216. It could easily go under that, too. It's the playoffs!
You know DAL isn't going to let Zub score 20 points again tonight. They'll make the Clips beat them from the perimeter.
I wouldn't mind seeing Bones get a little run tonight. To keep the pressure on DAL to defend and to keep him ready. But it won't happen if Russ is playing great.

I imagine the Mavs will try to get Zu in more pick and rolls. It's his biggest defensive liability and may get him taken out of the game. They don't have the pieces to guard him one on one, so making him work on the other end is their best bet to slow him down.
I expect them to get Luka more post-up plays, because we have been guarding him with smaller players like Mann and Westbrook.
We will need more efficient scoring from George and Powell.
I think the line suggests they are not expecting Kawhi to play.

Dallas is going to come out completely different, we need to be ready for it. They have a lot of guys who feel like they didn't show up so I expect a lot of them to hit us hard early. We've got room for a bigger game from Powell. And maybe they'll game plan for no Kawhi and we can surprise them when he suits up.

Kawhi shows up for shootaround and the line moves to Clippers -2. Looks like everyone is expecting him to play tonight.

Yes I am sure he will be limited and I am also sure Dallas does not have defenders to spare for him in whatever minutes he's out there. They were able to slag off Amir, they can't do that with Kawhi, which frees up PG and Harden.
That said, I will laugh and laugh and laugh if Kawhi was just out there during shoot around to again trick Mavs into thinking he's playing, and the Clippers win again, and Mavs coach again says they were not prepared for Kawhi to be out (which he absurdly said after game 1)

I think the line suggests they are not expecting Kawhi to play. It'll be pick your poison for them: You want to slow Zu down? Then give the perimeter shooters some oxygen. Their best bet is for Luka and Kyrie to each get at least 30-40 points as well as to get some significant contributions from others.

I don't think Luka will play as poorly as he did in game 1. Hopefully PG steps it up to match him.

Question:
So, the home teams are 11-0 in the playoffs so far.
Who will be the first team to break that record and get a win on the road tonight?
1) The Suns? Because they have three stars and two will show up to have a great game? Instead of one. 2) The Mavs? Because Harden will come back down to earth, Luka will play like an allstar, and the Mavs D will show up? 3) The Pacers? Because Haliburton will show up and the Bucks don't have enough without Giannis?
2* If Kawhi does play, will that actually help win, or will he be at 70%?

Any of these teams have a good shot to do it tonight. I think the Pacers get the win, but I don't believe in their play style overall for the playoffs. I don't get ppl picking them to beat the Bucks since Giannis is still expected to be back mid series. Suns you never know what you're gonna get, I'd expect Booker to be better but Wolves are def the better team imo. As far as Kawhi, he pretty much never plays if he is 70% so not too worried about that. I think the biggest thing for them is in the past they'd get these super hot shooting games so if that happens that would be trouble. They probably feel like we shot out of our minds on Sunday too.
