Everyone clearing up cap space to sign 2 max free agents this summer but there are really only 3 guys worthy of a max--Durant, Kawhi and Irving. There were always rumors that Durant and Irving wanted to team up in NY. I guess that leaves us Kawhi and resigning Tobias. Lakers will have to trade their young guys for Beal or hope to sign Klay. AD is probably going to Boston.

I wouldn't mind going after Klay along with Kawhi.

What would we have to do to resign DJ? Is there any money left?

I wonder what DJ is thinking right now. I hope for his sake he's thinking he should have never left, it was just a vanity move in the first place. He could have been a Clipper for life, been on a better team, and arguably a team that he could call his team. Now he's being passed around like a used condom. If he comes back to the Clippers now, it won't be so much because he is wanted, rather because others don't want him. DJ has always been immature for his age.

If DJ is bought out there will be a host of teams that will want him. He'll be able to choose between many teams. If he comes to the Clippers it will definitely be because he is needed and he wants to come back. Unfortunately it looks like Houston is the most likely destination.

I wouldn't mind going after Klay along with Kawhi. Whoever gets Klay is going to pay far more than he's worth. We'll see what he gets offered, but he isn't a first banana. He's a good player but being a just slightly above-average shooter shouldn't have him sniffing anywhere near a max contract. He's getting 1.18 points per shot this season, while league-average wings get 1.19. He doesn't get to the line at all. His RASB is below average, too. There are much better ways to spend your money, especially if someone pays him anywhere close to his $28M cap hold next summer. JJ Redick gives better shooting and passing for $12M. Malcolm Brogdon gives more for $2M. Buddy Hield gives more of everything for $4M. I know they're rookies, but, the point is that what Klay does isn't so rare that you have to commit half your cap space for. Still, he'll probably get a $25M starting salary and a $100M or more contract. Because, hey, he went for 50 points against the Bulls. Good for him.

Someone will overpay him for the hype (ahem Lakers).

Thompson has had a down year but he can carry a team. Redick and Brogdon cannot. When Klay gets it going he can’t be stopped and he’s an elite defender as well. He’s an interesting player to say the least but much like Butler he is not a max player in my book.

Don't wait for a buy-out. We should trade for DJ. Gortat + Boban for DJ. Toss in a second rounder if need be.

I don't know what our other options are going to be necessarily, but signing Klay to a max deal for us wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, I could live with it, especially if we brought an A level star like Kawhi with him. I also think there is value in simply taking him off the Warriors and making them weaker. I want to see them get broken up, sick of their shit.

Yeah I agree with Trapp in the sense that IF we get a top superstar like Leonard, then I think there is a lot of room on the second signing. That could be Harris, Thompson, KD, AD, KP, Butler, Kemba Walker, Cousins, etc..

Knicks are essentially trading Porzingis for capspace and Dennis Smith Jr. Smith Jr. wasn't working with Doncic so that isn't much of a loss for the Mavs. Not sure I like Porzingis to stay healthy. Missing two years with a leg injury isn't good. Mavs taking on Hardaway's contract is a bad deal for them IMO. Lee couldn't be that bad could he. Knicks contenders for any number of free agents this summer with this deal. Plus, they are in line for the number one draft pick. I guess they find out who that is before they sign their free agents. I like this deal for the Knicks and hate it for Dallas. Dallas chasing a Dirk clone seems pretty dumb.Porzingis isn't like Dirk. Porzingis is great at putbacks. That's why his nickname was putback-zingis.

As usual, most trades that actually happen, are the ones that no one predicts.
* Shaq from Miami to Phoenix * Cousins from Sacramento to New Orleans * Porzingis from New York to Dallas * Indiana-Oklahoma City trade.

Good point. When was the last time someone asked to use someone else's condom after the first person was done with it?
