I think you might be misunderstanding it - if we keep our pick this year, Boston gets two second round picks. It does not transfer to the next year. So either we give them our non-lottery this year or second round picks later. BTW the Lakers lost to Atlanta today, so they're not exactly catching up so quickly. You are incorrect. If we keep our pick this year, Boston gets a first round pick from us next year. If we keep our pick that year as well by missing the playoffs, THEN in the third year they get two second round picks from us. Which is not going to happen as we will make the playoffs next year. So realistically we're choosing between this year or next year to have our first round pick. And I say next year is the better year to have our pick. Ah my bad.

To make any sort of noise, we need to get the 7 seed. We can push the Nuggets to 7 games. Playoff ready GSW will lick our plate clean. There would be a lot of road wins in that series. Because both the Nuggets and the Clippers lose a lot of home playoffs games.

This year is definitely the better year to have our pick, it will likely be a much higher pick this year and even just a small chance at Zion would be better than zero.

This year is definitely the better year to have our pick, it will likely be a much higher pick this year and even just a small chance at Zion would be better than zero. We'd be around the 15th pick this year in all likelihood if we missed the playoffs, with a near zero percent chance of getting Zion (the simulator says around Nickeil Alexander-Walker, a college player projected to be similar to Arron Afflalo). I'd rather make the playoffs and lose that pick and get around the 24th pick next year in the better lottery. 2020 apparently has a very deep international class of players by the way and is claimed to be shaping up to be the best class since 2014 in terms of depth. Meanwhile, I am seeing analysts say the 2019 draft, beyond the top 4 picks, is full of a lot of crap shoots and older players who in other years would have been taken in the second round.

If we miss the playoffs the highest pick we could have is 14. That is the end of the lottery. You get the 15th pick and you made the playoffs. I would prefer to make the playoffs too. But I don't think we will. Our front office has destroyed enough of the team where it will be difficult to win going forward. Only thing working in our favor is the schedule and having Doc as our coach. He does not like to lose regardless of what players he has on the roster.

The current prediction is 45 wins will get the 8th playoff spot this year (and we hold the tie-breaker with the Kings). That's 13-10 the rest of the way. We face 6 games against teams which are tanking right now. We also have home games against the Bulls, Nets and Mavericks. It's certainly not a lock to make the playoffs, but right now we do appear to be somewhat on track to squeak into the playoffs. If we can beat Sacramento (which we've done all year) and take at least one game of two against the Lakers, I'd say the odds favor us making the playoffs. 538 currently has us at 61% or 76% chance of making the playoffs, depending on which metric you buy.

We need to make playoffs. It gives our young players experience. No matter if it’s vs the Warriors or Nuggets. I feel we can be anywheee like 13-10 or 14-9 range the rest of the way. And we getting grizzle vets Chandler and Luc back. If we can stay healthy is the key. U listening Danilo?

I want to make the playoffs, but experience doesn't matter.
There's plenty of examples of teams that make the playoffs for the first time after a drought, even win a series, then don't make it the next year.
Sometimes it's due to injuries, sometimes due to increased expectations, sometimes due to the other teams changing.
All they can do is try to be the best they can, in a given year.

I just want to finish ahead of the Lakers. If we finish ninth it is fine as long as they are tenth. If the Kings beat us out I will be happy for them. If the Lakers beat us out I will not be happy.

I’d rather let the Celtics have the 15th or 16th pick in this year’s top heavy draft. Playoff experience for Shai, Sham, Trez, Zubac, JRob, and any othe young guy I missed will do wonders for their developement.

From the looks of it, this isn't the worst draft to lose our pick unless we hit on the 1% chance and land in the top 3. I guess it doesn't matter too much either way, I think we'd be a pretty easy out to any of the top teams.

I think I'd be pretty happy keeping our pick and watching the Lakers get spanked by the Warriors for four games straight in the first round.
