Certainly JaVale McGee and Tyson Chandler can't play defense anymore. The Pelicans were just driving to the basket at will and punishing the Lakers defense. And hitting enough threes to keep them from zoning. Lakers looked great against the Rockets and looked like crap against the Hawks and Pelicans. It is all about defense for them. They just don't play any of it most games and it really hurts them.

If our competition keeps losing to bad teams, it has the potential to crank that "wins required" total down. Lakers, Spurs and Thunder have all lost to worse teams recently. Absent from that list is the Kings, but if the trend continues I can see both Clippers AND Kings making it into the playoffs. Which would be just fine by me. Of course we have to win our games against worse teams, or else this is all for naught. The Denver loss was expected. But let's beat the Mavs. If we can beat both Mavs and Jazz, that would be helpful.

I doubt if we can beat the Jazz. Our records are similar but they are a way more talented team than us. Gobert does not even have to try very hard to stop Zubac and he can also contain Harrell. I think Shai has to start playing well or the Kings are way better than us also. I just feel a couple of losses coming up with the Jazz and Kings. That Sacramento arena is going to go crazy during that game and they are going to treat it like a game seven playoff game. I know we have a long winning streak against them but I just feel it gets broken in this key game. Sure I hope the Spurs sink too. That team isn't nearly as good as the Jazz IMO.

538 now has playoffs as 44 wins. If we win all games against teams with a worse record than ours, and lose all games with a record better than ours, here is how it plays out (and of course it usually doesn't play out that way):

Here is an odd question. If it comes down to the end, who do you think the Warriors would prefer to play in the first round of the playoffs: Clippers, or Lakers?
Because they might be able to choose. They play Lakers 4/4, and Clippers 4/7, and their regular season ends 4/10 (and their games after ours are meaningless against tanking teams).

Shouldn't they be written off by now?

I am not going to write off Lebron for at least another few games.

I am not going to write off Lebron for at least another few games. Come on. They are 11th right now with one of the toughest schedules left and they've been losing to terrible teams. At what point does the Lebron hype end?

I wouldn’t count out LeBron out either. You know refs will be in the mix of things as well.

Why didn't Lebron win those games? Because there’s still a ton of basketball left. Let’s get to April before we completely count LeBron out of the playoffs. LeBron has been a big problem too with his lazy taking plays off style of defense and pointing fingers at teammates. MJ’s GOAT status is safe.

Lebron is passing the ball and trying to get other Lakers to hit shots. Plus, he shot like crap against the Grizzlies. Ingram has played great (on offense) the last two games and they still have lost. Muscala has made the colorman (Norm Nixon) regret that they ever traded Zubac for him. Especially after Valenciunas and Noah took them apart on the boards in the Memphis game. Plus, Rondo and Stephenson are proving what we all knew. They are not good anymore except in a few games. Inconsistent. I think the Kings have a tough schedule as do the Lakers and even the TWolves. I think if Doc were coaching the Lakers they would be 10 games ahead of us right now. Lakers just a very disorganized and unmotivated team for the most part. And Ball not coming back any time soon. See what happens tonight against the Pelicans. They lose at home to them it will be tough to recover.

Not to overlook the Knicks game on Sunday, but if we beat the Lakers on Monday I think you can pretty much stick a fork in them.
