Clippers - 2. Well the TWolves are in pretty sad shape with Teague, Rose, and Covington all out for the year. Landry Shamet still questionable for tonight. Not sure who would replace him if he can't go. Maybe Wilson Chandler. Maybe Jerome Robinson. Maybe Lou Williams. Needs to be somebody who can space the floor. Towns just killed Zubac and our starters last game when Temple was starting for us. Shai wasn't playing well then and Beverley wasn't shooting then so the whole thing was a disaster for our starting five. Now that Bev and Shai are scoring more maybe we can afford to have Shamet out for this game. Not sure if Towns is playing restricted minutes or if the TWolves are actually trying to win. But the point spread is telling me they are going to go all out to win this one.
Not sure who is doing color commentary for Ralph tonight. Mike Fratello, Hubie Brown were both great. I would settle for Don McLean since college isn't playing today. Win today and we clinch a playoff spot. Ahead of OKC, Spurs, and Jazz. Now who would have thought that at the start of the season.

This is the projections (and I hate Temple starting):
Projected Starting Lineups LA Clippers: Patrick Beverley, Garrett Temple, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, Ivica Zubac
Minnesota Timberwolves: Tyus Jones, Josh Okogie, Andrew Wiggins, Dario Saric, Karl-Anthony Towns
Injuries Clippers: Luc Mbah a Moute (Knee) - Out, Landry Shamet (Ankle) - Questionable
Timberwolves: Taj Gibson (Calf) - Questionable, Derrick Rose (Elbow) - Out, Jeff Teague (Foot) - Out, Robert Covington (Knee) - Out, Luol Deng (Achilles) - Out
KAT is on fire. Zubac is...not. I don't like this matchup.

Gibson being out would be a big help. Rose has been shutdown for the year from what I read. So he should be definitely out. Zubac needs to step up his game tonight against Towns.

Good win. Beverley has an injury though, to his right hip. "Beverley has been diagnosed with a bruised right hip. He'll likely land on the injury report ahead of Thursday's contest against Milwaukee."
Which sucks. Bucks are great, and beating them would help us a whole lot in the standings. Without Beverley it would be tough, and if Shamet is also still out, then it's a scheduled loss.

"It's so hard to make the playoffs in the West," said guard Patrick Beverley, who said he was fine after exiting the game with a hip pointer. G Landry Shamet did not play due to an ankle injury. Shamet is averaging 11.2 points per game since he was traded to the Clippers in early February. Rivers said Shamet would've played if it were a playoff gamewww.espn.com/nba/recap?gameId=401071785

What a job by Rivers this year. He underachieved with our big 3, but this is something special, the whole team seems to play harder now, less non energy games. Go Clipps!

Of course instead of watching the second half of the Clippers game I was watching the Spurs/Hornets game. I figured we had a big halftime lead so there was nothing to worry about. Once again the Spurs announcer invoked "Lawler's Law" when they hit 100 before the Hornets and once again they lost. Just like they did to the Rockets. "Lawler's Law" is getting completely trashed by the Spurs losing. Kemba Walker played really good in the closing minutes and in overtime. Hit a lot of big shots. Once again Aldridge and DeRozan hit 20 shots and 10 free throws between them and only get 50 points out of it. Still say its tough to win when your big stars don't hit three pointers.
Well good news is we clinched a playoff spot. Good news is that Temple came up big as a starter with the five three pointers. Good news that Zubac was +3 instead of -35 like the last time we played at Minnesota. In fact, all of the starters had positive numbers on the +/- totals with Gallo leading at +13. The reserves were pretty good too with Harrell and Lou doing most of the scoring. TWolves and Bayless were terrible from the free throw line which really hurt their chances. We outshot them badly at 54% to 43%, outrebounded them 51 to 43, they shot only 60% from the free throw line, and we still only won by 10 and were getting pushed in the fourth quarter. Which means too many turnovers for us at 18. We need to cut that number if we want to beat the Bucks tomorrow.
