Reposting one of clipsentuboca's posts: Bill Hader's 'Barry' makes me larf. A bit overboard with all the vulgarities, but it's a good show if you like dark dry humour. Leonard "where's my stapler" from Office Space is in it. Henry Winkler.

Barry is superb. I really love that show and look forward to every episode. My wife is an actress...she cringes a bit more than I do. My best friend is also in acting classes. It hits too close to home for him sometimes.

I am big into mythology and the power and influence it has on our society. I am with you clippers1121. There isn't a lot of meaningful difference between the myths of the ancient Greeks with heroes like Achilles and the modern zeitgeist surrounding superheroes like Superman. There are articles out there on that comparison. Though most people compare Superman to Zeus Nice read!!!

In other news, the Big Bang Theory finale is also this week. That will probably end with the gang sitting around the coffee table eating Chinese food like they always do. Called it!

Heading in to summer and there is nothing that I am dying to see. I will wait for the reviews on the new Tarantino movie before seeing it because his last movie (The Hateful Eight) was a disappointment.
Thinking about canceling my Netflix subscription. Too much original programming that has not been vetted. I am curious to see what Disney's streaming service will look like. I think content will be king in the future now that everyone has caught up to Netflix's first mover advantage in streaming.

They are releasing so much original programming before it has built any demand to see it. Every now and then something breaks out like Stranger Things or Bird Box but they have yet to create a Godfather, Sopranos, Seinfeld, Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones. In that regard, HBO has a superior catalog except in stand-up comedy. Dave Chappelle is my favorite stand-up and his newer stuff is on Netflix.

I thought "Russian Dolls" was a very good show. I think that is Netflix. Also the movie "Triple Frontier" was a very good thriller movie.
Who cares if it is vetted. The viewing public can watch an episode of a show and decide for themselves if it is any good. I loved "The Hateful Eight". Great movie. There is a thing on the ebola virus outbreak on NGC next week that should be pretty good. Chernobyl is winding down on HBO and that has been great. Very accurate recreation of the locale and a good characterization of the meltdown even though it plays a little fast and loose with the facts for dramatic effect. But very good mini-series anyway.
Just saw "Tolkien" at the theatre. That is a pretty good bio pic about JRR Tolkien and what made him who he was. Lots of it was influenced by his experiences during the battle of the Somme. Then there is the new John Wick movie where Boban gets to fight John Wick in the New York Library. Lots of stuff to see out there and on TV.

Succession is a fantastic, high-quality show, at least Season 1 was. I was pissed that I started watching it sequentially from week to week, I could have devoured it all in 2-3 sittings.
Season 2 is starting soon and I plan on holding off so I can binge it when all episodes have been released.

the Mrs makes me watch Hannibal. Disgusting. Season 2 is kinda dragging and no wonder it got cancelled.
