If we are able to dump Gallo for Jimmy Butler, they should hand West/Winger executive of the year right now before the season even starts.
I don't see how or why MIN would want anything to do with that Gallo contract in a Jimmy Butler trade. It's gotta be for Tobias Harris and other pieces.
I sure as hell would LOVE to be wrong about this.

Here is the thing. If Butler wants to come to the Clippers, he can just come here in free agency after this year. However, Tobias Harris will never end up with the T-Wolves unless he is involved in a trade. And even then he probably won't stay after a year. So that's why Minnesota would at least consider Gallo. He's a big risk. But, if they think Harris would just walk anyway after a year, it's essentially like Butler is walking at the end of his contract anyway.
Which is why the proposed trade is probably Gallo PLUS another one or two assets. Like Milos or Beverley or Robertson or a pick. So at least they mitigate the risk of Gallo with SOME valuable asset or assets they can sell to their fans.
It could be Harris, I am just not sure why. I don't think we want to give him up, I don't think T-Wolves could keep him beyond a year, and I think Minnesota is well aware he would probably just walk after a year. They sure won't get assurances from him...unlike the Clippers, who are on Butler's list by request.

I guess they could still trade for Harris, and try to do a sign-and-trade if he leaves.
I wonder if Harris could say "include Boban in the trade, and I'll resign with Minnesota". That's against the CBA, but it would be funny if he made that request.

Clippers get Butler Suns get Beverley and Dieng TWolves get Gallinari, TJ Warren, 2022 1st from Clippers With this, the clippers replace gallinari's contract with Butlers. Giving them a good shot to resign butler and also keep enough cap room to still get close to 2 max free agents left. Suns get their PG and a backup C to Ayton. Both could learn from Chandler. Twolves get a 1st that wont be used for awhile. A starting PF in Gallinari and a starting SF in Warren. They could have a lineup of Teague, Wiggins, Warren, Gallo, Towns. which could help compete and have the bulls 2.0 off the bench. This trade does not work. Phoenix has too much salary coming in for what they have going out.

Phoenix has too much salary coming in for what they have going out. They could throw in guys like Troy Daniels and Davon Reed to make it work financially. However, this was just something being thrown out there. I also read that Zach Lowe heard that the Suns have contacted the TWolves asking about Tyus Jones. I still feel like with the whole Butler/Clippers thing, that the Suns could really help facilitate this. They are really in need of a PG and both teams have those, the Suns also have high ceiling prospects that could help in a Butler trade.

Thibs is saying Butler won't be traded this season. Of course he is ... his job is on the line here. But who knows which way this is going to go.

Zach Lowe reported that Los Angeles is considered highly unlikely to offer either of the two rookies they drafted in the lottery of the 2019 NBA Draft (via ESPN):
“The Clips have among the easiest ready-made offers that would satisfy [Tom] Thibodeau‘s presumed desire to chase a playoff spot: Tobias Harris, one of Lou Williams/Patrick Beverley/Avery Bradley (not tradable until Jan. 15)/Milos Teodosic, and a future first-round pick (conveyed two years after the pick they already owe Boston via the disastrous Jeff Green deal). Some of those combinations would vault Minnesota over the tax, complicating talks. The Clips could substitute Jerome Robinson for the pick, or add Robinson (though I doubt they would do that). It would be shocking if they included Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, league sources say.”

Good avatar, jglanton. How about the making the image of what corkscrew called "a hairy Pacman", from the eclipse from a few years ago (maybe 2014?), as your avatar?
