This just isn’t a boards full of football fans and that’s fine. I’m also a part time poster to begin with and I rather not talk to myself as well. As for the Chargers/Ravens. Here’s the keys. - Force Lamar Jackson to pass the ball. That means get up early on the Ravens. The Chargers can’t afford to wait until the second quarter to put points on the board. - Minimize mistakes and penalties. The Bolts were on their way to a go ahead TD before Gates(of all people) fumbled the ball. The Chargers defense is prone to making costly mistakes, especially on 3rd downs. - Philip Rivers. He needs lead the team to victory. He needs to get the Chargers going early and force Lamar Jackson to play catch up. I do thin the Ravens are a scary team, but the Chargers have more talent across the board. 7 pro bowl selections. This game is a big test for Chargers HC, Anthony Lynn, who I’m a huge fan of.
You won't be talking to yourself.
You know more about the NFL though, so it helps to have someone else initiate the conversation. Then I can respond.
Jackson seemed like he did pretty well, but the overall defense held the Ravens to less points.

That last two minutes of the game I was getting flashbacks to the Broncos game. We had them at 23 to 3 and that should have been that. Some of those passes that Jackson completed were simply the Chargers DBs did not respect him and were cheating by playing off their man and looking to stop the runs. They gave him no credit for being able to throw it over their heads. And they got some huge plays from that. Oh well. Winning is the only thing that matters and our team won. On to the Patriots.
In the other game I feel bad for that Bears kicker. Hitting the upright and the crossbar and not having the kick go in for the game winner is brutal. And something that will haunt him the rest of his life. Especially in Chicago where they take sports seriously. He is probably unemployed already.

clipps , why don't you join the NFL survival league? I always thought you would like something like that.

clipps , why don't you join the NFL survival league? I always thought you would like something like that. I just never get around to it. I'm usually in multiple fantasy football leagues and commish in one(also the new reigning Champion) so I don't ever think about it. Survival leagues is basically playing Pick 'ems with extra rules? I can do that. I think I did alright on the few unofficial picks I had this season. I think as long as you keep emotions out if it, you can do well.

Oh boy, the weekend can't get here any slower to me. Last week was quite interesting. I think Colts vs Texans was pretty predictable to me. People forget how good Andrew Luck is. He's probably the scariest QB in the entire playoffs right now. I think the Texans are one more season away from being a powerhouse. They also need a stud RB.
The Cowboys vs Seahawks game was really frustrating to watch. Seattle's play calling was awful and predictable. Run run pass. Run run run and pass on 4th down. Not going deep until you're forced to do so at the end of the game. Especially when during the whole game, Dallas had the running game in check mate. Russell Wilson is the best dual threat QB in the NFL but he's such a coaches pet. When something is not working all game, guys like Peyton, Brees, Elway, Montana, Brady, etc. Is gonna basically tell the coach to eff off and put the team on his back. Russell didn't do that.
I was a nervous wreck leading up to the Chargers @ Ravens game... Honestly, I'm a nervous wreck any week leading up to the Chargers vs anybody. I think we can all relate to that one. The Chargers did exactly what I wanted them to do. Get up early and shut down Lamar Jackson's legs... Holy shit. This is probably the best defensive performance I've seen from the Chargers Since I can remember. Good move by Gus Bradley to go with 7db's to match Lamar Jackson and the Raven's speed. Only complaint from me is in the 4th quarter. The Chargers let them back. Seems like no matter what happens, the Chargers will make it interesting one way or another. That won't work against Brady and Belichick.
Bad news Bears. Double doink. I was really rooting for those guys. Fuck the Eagles. Bears should be a force for many years. They need some more recievers, though.

Rams vs Cowboys- Cowboys: The Rams have struggled a little bit. Good doesn't look reliable. The Rams need Gurley to go off. The LA Coliseum will have a ton of Cowboys fans. Dallas' D has been nasty lately. I think if Dallas keeps Gurley in check, Cowboys should win. I hate both teams btw.
Saints vs Eagles- Saints: what Philly did last year was beyond impressive. If they pull it off again, what do you do with Wentz? I don't think they have it in them to repeat. The Saints are too good from top to bottom.
Chiefs vs Colts- Colts: I actually want KC to win but I think the Colts are better. Patrick Mahomes is phenomenal and will be one of the best QB's for many years to come and will be a huge problem for the Chargers and the rest of the AFC West. That said, I don't think he's ready for the playoffs yet and people forget how good Luck is. Chiefs don't have a defense, Hunt isn't there anymore. I want KC to win because that's who I want the Chargers to play in the next round but I think Colts got this one.
Patriots vs Chargers- CHARGERS!!!: A shot to play the Patriots at least one more time in Philip Rivers career is all I wanted since the torn ACL game(Gates' dislocated toe) other than a Lombardi. This game is potentially the game that people will be talking about for a long time. This is the golden opportunity for Philthy Phil. To win the game, the Chargers need to stick to their guns and do what they do best. Pressure Tom Brady with the best pass rushing duo in the NFL and keep the sticks moving on offense. The Chargers are the more talented team. I trust and believe in Anthony Lynn to keep the players focused and do what they need to do. But, they are still the Patriots with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Foxboro will be cold and possibly snowing. This is the perfect opportunity for the Chargers. Only the Chargers can get in their way. ASAP; any squad, any place.

The only rule is that you can't pick the same team again, for as long as the game lasts. The picks do reset at the start of the playoffs. I just created one more league, so check the survival league thread and join, if you want to play these last few weeks. Usually it's a 2 strike league, but given how there's only 3 weeks left, it's 1 strike this time.

How would you compare them?

Snow predicted for Saturday's playoff game in Kansas City. And a 10 mile wind. Should make it so the team that is best at running the ball wins. And you know most of KC's running game left the team. Mahomes the wunderkind can prove it today for sure if he can get it going in that type of weather.
I want the Rams to just kill the Cowboys tonight. Good offense against a good defense. Goff gets tested to see if he can win a big time game under the spotlight.

Thoughts on post # 84?
When the Colts lose in the playoffs, they lose badly.
I didn't know they started 1 - 5, though.
Good job Rams.
Surprised the Patriots scored 41. I didn't think they had that in them, plus I thought the Chargers defense was better.

Chargers worst defensive effort in the last two years. They got completely destroyed by the Patriot offense for some reason I don't understand. Pats scored touchdowns on five of their first six possessions. You can't let that happen and expect to win a playoff game. You need to force some three and outs. I sure hope the Chiefs are better prepared to play them than we were. Hate to see the Patriots in the Super Bowl once again.
Saints were very lucky the Eagles got intercepted on that last drive. That could have been a very ugly loss for them to cap off a great season. Just like they lost ugly against the Vikings last year. Well bad for the Rams that they won since now they have home field advantage. Rams have to do it on the road to get to the Super Bowl now and I hope they do.

That was by far the worst game in Anthony Lynn’s era. This was exactly what I was afraid of is that the Chargers wouldn’t show up. Rivers was the only one who came to play. O-line got dominated, the run got completely shut down. Very disappointed in the Chargers. Defense was absolutely soft and timid. They got scared of the Patriots. I hope this hangs over the players all offseason and learn from this. The players are very young except for Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates and hopefully they learn from this and get fired up for next season.
