A Paul George trade in the next 3 weeks would be shocking--but the closer we get to the deadline without him and the team finding a mutually agreeable number on an extension, the more likely it is that LAC entertains alternatives to risking his free agency this summer.

If they don't reach a deal soon, it will sound like PG is asking for Kawhi money and they don't want to pay that much.

I genuinely think Lucas was fucking around for engagements on that Tweet. And told him so.

He also said this re the second apron - anyone know if it is true? Can another team like Philly give him a full max and also stay under the second apron?
"There's just a reality here with the 2nd apron. They probably can't give him a full max extension & also keep James."

Weird time for this to be floated out. I do think they listened on him before, I don't think they wanted to just run it back. But George, Harden, Kawhi and the FO seem pretty on the same page on the 3 of them staying long term. I'm not sure if they can sign him before the summer or not, but I'd be surprised if he even takes meetings with other teams.

Philly only has 3 players under contract for next season and a very small cap hold for Maxey. They will have a ton of cap space. They would have to use money under the cap and not the apron to sign PG, but they will have room for a full max. They would then sign Maxey, who they can go over the cap for, after whatever free agent or agents they get. The Maxey signing could put them near or over the apron in that situation.

@lucasjhann Are the sixers currently tampering, telling PG they will give him all the years and money? If the trade deadline comes and goes and sixers haven’t used cap and Clippers haven’t signed George, you have to consider this. is George using the sixers as leverage?

Lucus is trying to stir the pot again. There is no way the Clippers are going to give PG a bigger contract than Kawhi.

Lucas kind of admitted he was messing around for clicks. I mean he's not entirely wrong but he's definitely spinning a bit.
